Chapter 108 Contamination Inhibitor

Finished

Satisfied with the storage upgrade, Joanna decided to leave the configuration of the rest of the warehouse to Jolie and Uncle Nate. The new level-13 blueprint revealed a highly advanced automated livestock feature capable of feeding, automatically milking cattle and harvesting meat from the farm quadrant. She knew the two of them would be perfect for organizing that section.

Before leaving the screen system, however, a new, mysterious section caught her eye at the bottom of the monitor. It was labeled: Mutated World Identification System. Intrigued, Joanna reached out and/clicked on the icon. Instantly, a bold red message flashed across the interface: Access Denied. Below it, smaller blue text blinked: Access granted at Level 15. Joanna stared at it, her curiosity piqued as she wondered what kind of world data or scanning abilities lay hidden behind that lock.

Leaving the console behind, Joanna walked outside toward the mystical spring. As she stepped toward the springs area, she gasped. Wow, it had grown tremendously.

Sticking directly out of the ground near the water was a rustic wooden sign that read: Hot Spring.

Now, exactly a hundred feet next to the main pool, a beautifully carved sunken pit cratered into the ground. It was completely filled with crystal-clear spring water and featured a set of smooth stone steps leading down into it. Joanna walked over and dipped her hand into the water, her eyes instantly lighting up with pure happiness. It was naturally warmed, radiating the soothing heat of a luxury hot tub.

She noticed another paper attached at the bottom of the Hot Spring sign. She leaned closer to read it. It was labeled Contamination Inhibitor, and the description made her breath catch: Any virus may be reversed or inhibited.

She walked back to the edge of the primary spring, cupping her hands to take a long, deep drink. The water felt distinctly different on her tongue. The energy inside it had grown significantly stronger; she could feel its potency buzzing through her veins. It would now heal physical wounds much faster than before, restoring a person’s depleted energy and stamina almost instantaneously.

“Amazing,” Joanna whispered to herself, feeling completely revitalized as the magic of the upgraded spring settled over her. Smiling and feeling energized from the upgraded spring, Joanna exited her space and walked into the living room.

The heavy rumble of the RV’s engine echoed outside the apartment building, signaling the scavenging team’s return. Minutes later, the door burst open, and the apartment filled with excited chatter as the group hauled in stuffed duffel bags of food, water, and auto supplies.

Everyone immediately gathered in the living room to update each other. Uncle Nate, Raven, and Josiah had just finished up downstairs, having successfully scrubbed and prepped all the gear and laundry.

Jolie and Rachel proudly recounted the convenience store raid, explaining how they dealt with the hostile killers and survived the ten-zombie horde. Then, all eyes turned to Julian. Riding a wave of arrogance, Julian stepped forward with a smug grin and proudly detailed how he had unlocked his electric ability, frying a zombie on the spot. He and Jake then handed Joanna a pile of new zombie cores they had manually dug out from the skulls.

Before Joanna shared her own updates, she looked directly at Ryan and Danielle, gesturing to the massive supply pile. “This haul is all for you guys. From now on, as we move forward, it will be your responsibility to handle your own supply runs.”

Ryan, completely overcome with gratitude, smiled warmly. “Thank you, Joanna. Seriously, thank you so much.”

Danielle, holding tightly to Josiah’s hand, stepped forward and timidly asked, “Can we start training as well? I know we are really weak compared to the rest of the team.”

Joanna nodded encouragingly. “Don’t be too harsh on yourselves. There will be a time when you will prove your worth to the team. Especially when we settle in a safer place. This team has mostly been training for months, but it’s great that you want to get stronger.”

Jake chimed in with a practical suggestion. “Start with push-ups and basic calisthenics for the next week three times a day.” Both Ryan and Danielle nodded eagerly.

Joanna then instructed the team to carry the supplies downstairs to help organize everything for Ryan and his family, telling Jolie to stay behind to start cooking lunch. However, Danielle, still deeply moved by the team’s immense help, stepped in. “Please, let me cook instead,” she insisted with a bright smile. “Everyone should come eat lunch downstairs with us.”

With the plan decided, Ryan, Danielle, and Josiah went downstairs to get the kitchen ready and start prepping the meal.

Once they left, Joanna finally revealed her own happy news to the team. She pulled them all into her space. She shared that she had pushed her pocket dimension all the way to level thirteen. She explained her new extended 1500-square-foot automatic search range, the automatic decontamination system, and the electronic inventory screen.

When she finished by showing the eight-story warehouse, the automated, feeding, cattle-milking and meat- harvesting system, and the new heated hot spring that could reverse or inhibit any virus, the entire team fell dead silent. The team stared at her in absolute awe, their fatigue completely vanishing as they realized the boss was built for this apocalypse!
