Chapter 114 I feel completely recharged

Finished

Once the bowls were empty. Joanna wiped her hands and pulled out a handful of the translucent zombie cores she had harvested carlier. They glimmered faintly in the dim light of the storefront. Joanną figured they might as well spend some time working on this because she had absorbed cores on their way here whenever she had a minute and she didn’t need too many more for level two.

“It’s time to learn how to use these,” Joanna said, her tone shifting to instruction. “These cores contain high energy. If you absorb them, they strengthen your body and evolve your power.”

She handed a crystal to Julian, but when Jake reached out, she shook her head gently. “Wait until you awaken an ability, Jake. Without an active power to channel it, trying to force the energy can be incredibly dangerous for your body.”

Joanna turned back to the electric user. “Julian, close your eyes. Focus on the core in your palm. Draw the energy out and guide it into your own electrical reserves.”

Julian closed his eyes, his brow furrowing in concentration. After a few tense minutes, a bright blue spark cracked across his hand. The core in his palm suddenly turned to dust as a rush of vibrant energy surged up his arm, making his eyes snap open, glowing with a faint electric hum. “Wow,” he breathed, flexing his fingers as static danced across his knuckles. “I feel completely recharged.”

Jake watched his teammate with a mix of envy and intense determination. Even though Joanna told him to wait, he couldn’t just sit idly by while the world grew more dangerous. Grabbing his own core, he closed his hand around it. He closed his eyes anyway, focusing inward. He shifted his mind away from a magical power and instead concentrated entirely on the heavy aluminum bat resting across his lap, trying to connect with the cold, rigid structure of the object. He didn’t know why he did though.

Slowly, against all odds, Jake actually figured out a way to tap into a dormant energy inside himself. A strange, metallic silver sheen rippled just beneath the surface of his skin, and his grip tightened. Suddenly, the solid metal bat in his hands began to shift, the aluminum molding and flowing like clay under his palms until it formed a perfect, customized grip tailored exactly to his hands.

Jake gasped, opening his eyes as the silver glow faded, leaving the metal of his bat permanently reinforced and altered. He looked at Joanna, a massive, triumphant grin breaking across his face.

“I didn’t need the core to figure it out,” Jake said, his voice brimming with a newfound confidence. “I think I just unlocked a metal ability.”

Both Julian and Joanna stood frozen, completely amazed by the display before they simultaneously flashed Jake enthusiastic double thumbs-up. The sheer potential of a metal manipulator on the team was game- changing, but the victory was short-lived. Almost immediately, the metallic sheen faded from Jake’s skin, and he stumbled backward, breathing heavily as a sudden wave of exhaustion washed over him.

Fearing he was on the verge of a dangerous awakening fever out in the open, Joanna didn’t hesitate. With a swift flick of her wrist, she willed both Julian and Jake directly back into her pocket dimension.

The abrupt transition dropped them onto the pristine fresh grass of her sanctuary. Joanna hurried them over to the villa, where they stripped out of their grimed tactical gear and changed into swim suits. Stepping into the steaming backyard, they sank deeply into the rejuvenating hot tub. The specialized spring water immediately went to work, its magical properties tingling against their skin and melting away the deep aches of a three-hour battle.

Chapter 1141 feel completely recharged

As they soaked and gathered their energy, Joanna pulled out the handful of translucent zombie cores they had harvested throughout the day. She distributed them, and together they began to absorb the pure,

Brant energy crystals. Julian’s form shimmered with refined static, while Jake channeled the power to stabilize his newly awakened metal ability, his temperature leveling off safely.

For Joanna, the influx of energy was the final push she needed. As the last core dissolved into dust in her palm, a powerful shockwave of spatial resonance rippled through the water around her. Her infernal reserves expanded drastically as she broke through to level 2 strength, her physical limits reaching entirely new heights.

The trio celebrated their massive breakthroughs for a little longer, splashing around in the steaming, therapeutic water as the realization of their upgraded power settled in. But the lighthearted moment quickly came to an end when Joanna stood up, drying off.

“Alright, playtime is over,” Joanna said, her tone snapping back to its usual authoritative edge. “It’s time to move out.”

Before exiting the space, Joanna stood and activated her level 2 spatial ability. Extending her awareness beyond the boundary of her pocket dimension, she peered out into the empty, darkened front showroom of Aegis Defense Solutions. Her eyes narrowed at the strange site. Coming down the main Blackwood strip at breakneck speed was a military squad vehicle, its tires screeching as it headed straight for the store. Trailing directly behind them was a massive, frenzied zombie horde three times larger than anything they had seen before, following behind them. Honestly it looked like the pied piper leading rats on the road, except these rats were zombies. Did this group just collect zombies like pets?
