Rewrite the Apocalypse dream (by Dee Cari) novel Chapter 138

Chapter 138 You’re having vivid, intense dreams about me

this a vision from the lab she was traveling to tonight?

IN

Questions and worries clouded her brain, threatening to disrupt her perfect logistical command. That zombie was absolutely not normal. It moved with the terrifying, explosive speed of a level two or level three variant-something they weren’t supposed to encounter this early in the collapse.

But the most disturbing question burned deepest: why did that man save the zombie? He hadn’t just attacked Julian out of fear; he had actively cut down Julian’s attack. She got up and went to look for Julian. She found him out by the vegetable crops. Bending down, and planting something?

He was carefully pressing seeds into the soil. He looked up at her, grumbling like a corporate CEO used to getting his way, completely oblivious to the terror that had just jolted her awake.

“Asparagus has so many nutrients, Joanna!” Julian complained after noticing her, wiping a streak of dirt across his forehead. “At least you got the seeds, but making me plant them is a little annoying.”

Joanna looked down at him, her sharp gaze scanning his posture and his hands. In her dream, those same hands had been crackling with blue electricity before being brutally cut down. Seeing him so mundane, bossing around a patch of dirt, grounded her frantic thoughts. The contrast was jarring, but it did nothing to erase the icy dread of the laboratory vision.

“Julian,” Joanna said, her voice dropping into a flat, deadly serious tone that instantly cut through his corporate grumbling. “We need to talk about tonight.”

She continues, “Julian, shut up and listen. I just had a dream, and I think it is about tonight.”

Julian froze, the corporate irritation instantly melting from his face as he picked up on the cold, lethal gravity in her voice. He dropped the seed packet back into the tray and stood up, brushing the loose dirt from his knees.

“What did you see?” he asked, his tone dropping to a sharp whisper.

“A dark, freezing underground laboratory,” Joanna said, her eyes locked onto his. “You were sprinting down a hallway, throwing blue electricity from your hands. A man in a bloody, torn lab coat dropped out of an air duct. He wasn’t afraid, Julian. He was chewing a leaf, watching you, completely calm.”

Julian’s jaw tightened as he absorbed the hyper-specific details.

“A level two or three variant zombie trapped you both,” Joanna continued, her voice flat and precise. “You went to blast it with your lightning, but right before you could, the scientist lunged from the dark and drove ja heavy metal microscope into the back of your skull. He knocked you out to save the creature.”

The garden section of the storage space fell into a heavy, suffocating silence. Julian stared at his hands, his knuckles turning white as the reality of a new, unknown threat settled in.

“Keep a sharp attention on any hallway with air ducts. If you see that man, you knock him out as soon as you spot him,” Joanna ordered, her eyes flashing with a dangerous intensity. “Try not to kill him, though. I want answers as to why he would protect that zombie.”

Julian nodded, the serious weight of her warning settling over him, but within a heartbeat, a playful glint flashed in his eyes.

Chapter 138 You re having vivid, intense dreams about me

So,” he leaned slightly closer, his voice dropping into a smooth, teasing register. “You’re having vivid,

gense dreams about me, and the first thing you do when you wake up is rush out to find me? I’m incredibly touched by how deeply you care about my safety. Joanna.”

Joanna’s posture stiffened for a fraction of a second. A rare, faint tint of color touched her cheeks, her analytical mind momentarily stumbling over his sudden shift in tone.

“Don’t flatter yourself,” she countered quickly, recovering her flat demeanor and crossing her arms with a sharp smirk. “If you get your head smashed in by a rogue scientist, I lose a high-voltage electrical asset during a dangerous mission. I’m just protecting my operational logistics, Julian.”

“Ah, strictly business,” Julian chuckled, taking a step back but keeping his eyes locked onto hers, thoroughly enjoying the rare moment he managed to fluster her. “Well, your ‘operational asset’ promises to keep his head on a swivel tonight.”

“See that you do,” Joanna teased back, her voice reclaiming its steady, authoritative edge. “Because if a microscope takes you out after I literally gave you the cheat codes, I’ll never let you live it down.”

“Its time to go,” Joanna ended the conversation, her playful expression vanishing as her mind snapped back to the ticking clock. “Briggs will be here soon.”
