Chapter 178 Crates Of Shimmering Zombie Cores

Jonna wrapped up the logistics meeting quickly. They would get together in the morning to discuss where the team would go first, as she wanted fresh intel from Caleb before they moved.

Finally, she waved her hand over the large dining table, and two massive crates materialized out of her spatial inventory. They were filled to the brim with thousands of shimmering zombie cores. The entire team stared in absolute shock.

“I’ve gotten pretty good at collecting cores while fighting,” Joanna smiled, explaining the system to the stunned group. “It takes a hundred level-one cores to get to level two, but it takes double that to get to level three. Over the next four days, I want everyone to gain a level if possible.”

Jake stood up and placed a medium duffle bag on the table, unzipping it to show it was packed tightly. “This is what we managed to collect on our way here,” he added.

Jolie smiled, eager to show off her own progress. “Boss, I can use my plant ability to dig them out now,” she said proudly.

A vibrant green vine suddenly emerged from Jolie’s arm, moving through the air with the sharp precision of a whip. Joanna nodded, genuinely impressed by her logistics manager’s lethal new utility.

That evening, following a relaxed dinner, Joanna’s core team retired to the safety and comfort of her spatial domain for the night. Caleb and Kailee were very happy with their new rooms and everyone started absorbing cores though many were fumbling with the process. It was slow but progress was always good. The rest of the survivors settled into the secure bunker underground. Commander Briggs chose to stay behind with his men, personally overseeing critical infrastructure, projects like installing generators for the new buildings and constructing temporary outhouses for the growing camp.

The next morning, Joanna woke up buzzing with energy, feeling genuinely good to be back with her squad. To optimize her team’s efficiency, she decided to leave Uncle Nate and Raven inside her spatial domain for the day.

Uncle Nate was tasked with organizing the spatial farm area to prepare it just in case Joanna managed to rescue or find more livestock during her upcoming runs. Raven remained behind with him to work alongside Titan, providing the extra hands needed to help Uncle Nate get the entire indoor agricultural setup running flawlessly.

After eating breakfast in the villa, Joanna pulled the rest of the team out of her space, and everyone climbed out of the underground bunker.

Within the inner courtyard, the soldiers and their families were already hard at work modifying the shelter containers. Joanna looked around the protected perimeter, visualizing the layout.

“With this courtyard completely enclosed by the wall of containers,” Joanna noted, gesturing to the space, “it makes a perfect setup to put a large meeting tent right off to the side.”

Will called a group of soldiers over to assist. Joanna extended her hand toward the open ground, releasing a massive, heavy canvas tent from her spatial inventory. Along with the structure, she pulled out space heaters, industrial lighting, sturdy tables, and several comfortable couches and chairs.

In less than 30 minutes, the team had everything erected and arranged, leaving a warm, cozy meeting tent sitting perfectly off to the side of the courtyard. Allen quickly stepped inside and connected the heaters to

the generator, firing them up to chase away the morning chill. With the space fully set up, everyone finally sat down to get to work.

Jole wheeled a large whiteboard over to the front of the tent, pinned a detailed map to it, and began drawing a few tactical lines. Meanwhile, the rich aroma of chocolate and roasted beans filled the warm space as Nana and Danielle passed around mugs of hot cocoa and fresh coffee to everyone.

Ryan, Nana, Danielle, Josiah, and Willow claimed a spot in the back, sitting up on the edges of some sturdy tables to get a clear view. Michelle and Warren joined them, wrapping their hands around their warm mugs as they settled in to listen to the briefing and there were two soldiers standing next to them a little nervous.

Joanna looked out at the group, her posture noticeably more relaxed than it had been in days. “First, Jolie and Briggs, who do we have managing the homebase?” she asked.

Jolie took a seat on the couch next to Allen, setting her mug down. “I spoke to Ryan and Uncle Nate already,” she said, gesturing toward the back. “They agreed to help organize food and supplies while we are away.”

Ryan spoke up from his spot on the table, nodding in agreement. “I can also act as the main liaison for the military side, working directly with the soldiers if they need anything from our inventory or logistics team.
