“Enough,” Joanne commanded, her voice sharp and leaving no room for argument. She motioned with a crisp hand gesture for the team to fan out. “Fan out and keep watch at every entrance. Rachel, keep your telepathy active. If those survivors run into anyone else, we might have company soon.”

The team moved out instantly, taking up tactical positions along the perimeter of the massive warehouse. Once the aisles were clear, Joanna walked up to the first towering row of steel shelving. She extended her hands.

With a low hum of energy, she began moving mass quantities of items into her personal pocket dimension storage space. She didn’t bother taking individual boxes; instead, she swept her hands forward, pulling entire steel shelves-loaded to the brim with heavy winter clothing and bulk grocery foods-directly into her storage space warehouse. Row after row of supplies vanished from the concrete floor in a fraction of a second.

She walked toward the specialized industrial cold-storage area, hoping to salvage the perishable foods. However, the moment she cracked open the heavy insulated doors, a foul stench hit her nose. Without power, the frozen and refrigerated section had already started to spoil, so she left that section completely alone, sealing the doors back up and turning her focus toward the endless rows of dry goods. Pallets of rice and beans gone with a flick of her wrist.

“Joanna,” Rachel called out, her voice cutting through the quiet aisle. “We have a problem. Those survivors who ran out of here? Their minds just collided with a much larger group about a quarter-mile out. They’re panicking, telling them about “The Executioner’ and a warehouse full of untouched supplies.”

Julian smiled faintly, a dangerous spark of electricity dancing on his thumb. “It seems my fan club is growing.”

“It’s not just random survivors,” Caleb interrupted from the middle of the warehouse, his face pale as he broke his meditation. His analytical dread was back, his voice dropping to a tense whisper. “I can feel the ripples in the air. The group they ran into… I see Glacier, and the temperature in their direction is dropping rapidly.”

Briggs let out a low grunt, his palms immediately igniting with a bright, high-temperature orange flame that cast dancing shadows across the empty concrete floor. “Looks like Glacier and your ex decided to skip the canning factory after all.”

Joanna stopped mid-stride, looking at Caleb. “Is there no escaping that psycho hot head?”

Caleb replied, “If there is one thing I know, it’s that events that shape and define the future are not easily avoided. You should meet him.”

Joanna’s face darkened. “Are you saying he has to be on the team?”

Caleb paused, then admitted, “No, not exactly. But, you will need his cooperation in the future. Whatever you do today, don’t make an enemy out of him.”

Joanna gave an angry laugh, her eyes flashing with a mix of defiance and calculated opportunism. “Fine, let us meet him. I can offer him a small portion of this stash.”

She paused for a second, calculating the minimum bribe needed to keep the peace. With a fluid wave of her hand, her spatial storage hummed. Two towering rows of steel shelving packed with dry grocery goods and

winter clothes reappeared out of thin air, crashing heavily onto the concrete floor near the loading docks.

While he and his crew are busy grabbing these supplies,” Joanna continued, a cold, sharp smirk playing on he lips, “I will hurry over to the canning factory and put every single piece of inventory into my space before they even know what happened.”

Julian let out a smooth, low laugh, his aristocratic posture relaxing as a genuine, amused smile broke across his handsome features. He looked at her with pure admiration, a spark of electricity dancing playfully across his fingertips.

“There’s my greedy little hoarder,” Julian murmured, his voice dripping with affection.

Briggs let out a rough grunt of approval, the smoking heat around his knuckles cooling down as the prospect of securing all those canned vegetables came back into play. The plan was vintage Joanna- pragmatic, ruthless, and entirely focused on maximizing their gains while minimizing unnecessary conflict with a future powerhouse.

“Rachel, tell me the moment their footsteps hit the perimeter fence,” Joanna commanded, her level-three strength thrumming as she stood squarely in front of the baited trap, waiting for Glacier and Drew to arrive.

Joanna turned to her team. “Set up. Make it look like we’re loading these supplies.”

The group quickly formed a coordinated line stretching from the two remaining shelves to the open rear doors of the three-row SUV.

Fifteen minutes later, Rachel’s eyes flashed with silver light. “They’ve arrived,” she whispered.

When Glacier stepped into the loading dock at the head of his rough-looking crew, he saw Joanna’s group lined up passing a bag of rice between them until it got to the back of the vehicle. Briggs handed it to Jolie, who slung it to Julian, who passed it to Rachel, while Jake pretended to stack it in the trunk.
