Chapter 202 Julian Vs Dante

Finished

Allen looked to the left freezing in place; and Joanna turried. Marching straight towards Joanna was Julian, and dominant commanding pressure was radiating off him. His jaw was clenched, his brow was furrowed, and sharp, crackling sparks of blue electricity were dancing aggressively across his shoulders with every step he took.

Julian marched right up to the group, his teeth gritted, and blue sparks snapping off his tailored jacket.

“Where is he?” Julian demanded, his voice a low, possessive growl. “I just got back to base and heard some slick-talking idiot named Dani or whatever slick man loves you and is bringing you gifts. Where is he, Joanna?”

Joanna stared at him, completely speechless. Behind her, Jake covered his mouth to stifle a laugh, while Allen subtly stepped backward.

Before Joanna could even open her mouth to explain, a soft, fat coo echoed from the center of the table. Julian jumped back with a look of disgust on his face. He stared at the fattest bird he had ever seen. It may have been a pigeon once in its life. But now…

Julian’s gaze dropped. He stared at the pigeon. The pigeon cooed again, puffing out its chest.

Julian stood frozen for three long seconds. The cold, dominant CEO aura didn’t just crack; it completely short-circuited. A single, confused blue spark snapped off his lapel and died.

Raven popped her head out from behind Joanna, totally unfazed by the terrifying lightning CEO. “Um, Julian? His name is Dante. And he’s right there.”

Dante let out a loud, proud, bass-heavy coo, blinking his glassy eyes over at the angry human. He lifted his head up slightly as if to pose majestically.

The terrifying CEO slowly relaxed his fists, the electricity fizzling out on his shoulders. He looked at the giant sky-rat, then back to Joanna, his jaw dropping in utter bewilderment.

“A pigeon, Joanna?” Julian muttered, his dominant composure completely evaporating into pure confusion. “What is happening here?”

“This is Dante,” Joanna explained, gesturing toward the massive bird.

Dante puffed his chest out, looking immensely satisfied at being the absolute center of attention in the courtyard.

“He’s the president of the Pigeon Federation,” Joanna continued, her voice completely serious. “I helped him and his flock deal with a mutated plant that was blocking their nests. In exchange, they are paying us fifty giant eggs for food.”

Julian opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out as he looked from the bird to Joanna, completely flabbergasted.

Taking advantage of the silence, Jake stepped forward with a perfectly deadpan expression. He lifted the small plastic bin, revealing the massive, duck-sized egg sitting safely inside it.

Yeah, buss man, you better watch out,” Jake teased, giving Julian a sympathetic pat on the arm. “I don’t know if you can compete with this. The guy is already delivering a high-protein dowry on the first date.”

Jolie suddenly burst out laughing, clapping her hands together. “Wait, boss! Are you and him a couple now?”

Julian’s face flushed as he quickly realized just how wildly he had misread the entire situation. The cold rage completely vanished, leaving him looking a little sheepish as he met Joanna’s flat, unblinking glare.

However, the possessive CEO immediately perked up at hearing Jolie use the word “couple.” He

straightened his jacket, the last of his nervous blue sparks fading away and threw a competitive glance back at the giant, bloated bird.

“Let’s be clear,” Julian cleared his throat, stepping smoothly right back into Joanna’s space with a smug smile. “The Federation can bring all the breakfast it wants. But Joanna is not available.”

Dante let out a loud, bass-heavy coo from his dirt perch, as if shrugging off the debate.

Joanna, thoroughly annoyed at being put on the spot in front of her entire squad, snapped back instantly. “Julian is on probation right now!”

Julian’s jaw clenched, his smug smile vanishing as he looked genuinely, a little wounded by the public demotion. The crackle of electricity completely died on his shoulders.
