Chapter 203 Briggs Gets A Message

Joanna looked at Julian and Jake, completely spent. “I have had the most ridiculous morning, and I need a break.”
She stalked off toward the command text, the two men following quietly behind her. Dropping into a chair, she pulled a cold milkshake and a basket of hot fries straight out of her upgraded storage space to snack on.
Briggs walked into the tent, wearing his usual cold commander persona, but his expression softened the moment he saw how exhausted Joanna looked. As they all gathered around the table, Briggs spoke up. “I was able to move personnel around and made a dedicated office space for the Pharmatec crew.”
Joanna raised her brow, genuinely impressed. “That was a good plan. It keeps them happy and working instead of leaving them in this high-traffic tent. Nice job, Briggs,” she said, taking a conforting sip of her shake.
Jake quickly filled the room in on the morning’s logistics, just as Caleb, Kailee and the rest of the crew walked inside and took their seats at the table. Since Jake had already recapped everyone on the chaotic victory at Leo’s farm, Joanna spoke up. She laid out the details of their new alliance with the Pigeon Federation, before dropping the biggest bomb of the morning-the fact that she now had a sentient, hyper-powerful pulsing plant monster currently sunbathing behind the villa in her pocket dimension.
Caleb, leaning into his role as the dreamweaver, was the only one in the room familiar with the botanical nightmare.
“The one with the white flowers?” Caleb asked, his face pale. “That is the most dangerous mutant plant recorded. Once full grown, its flowers emit a specialized scent that can completely incapacitate its victims.”
Joanna nodded, taking a slow sip of her milkshake. /I admit I didn’t know what I was getting into. I barely
survived it.”
Caleb frowned deeply, looking across the table at her with intense worry. “Joanna, it must be a juvenile plant right now. Otherwise, you would be dead.”
The tent fell dead silent as the weight of his words sank in,
“Well, it seems friendly enough now,” Joanna said, shrugging. “You can actually talk to it if you wear one of its vines.”
She held up her left wrist, showing them the neat green bracelet coiled around her skin.
Jake looked at her, his worry deepening. “And that thing is just hanging out in your space right now?”.
Joanna nodded, tossing the last of her fries into her mouth and brushing the salt off her hands. “Yeah. We can go see him in a bit. But first, I wanted to discuss the other places to visit around Dillon. We also need to plan our next big trip.”
She turned her gaze to the commander. “Briggs, those oversized eggs from the pigeon federation are for your troops and their families. Use them well.”
Briggs, who was always trying to strictly ration out fresh food to keep morale high, nodded in genuine

gratitude. His cold demeanor softened completely. “That will be a real treat for them, Joanna. Thank you.”
Will walked in, stepping up next to Kailee. His expression was deeply troubled. “Commander, it’s Major Levi. He just sent an encrypted radio message specifically for you.”
Briggs stood up immediately, his cold commander persona locking right back into place. He gave Joanna a brief nod before exiting the tent with Will to decode the transmission.
With the commander gone, Caleb leaned over the table, pointing a finger at a map hanging on the canvas
wall.
“Glacier’s forces are fully occupied with downtown Dillon right now,” Caleb explained, tracing a line across the grid. “But there is a decent amount of supplies left untouched on the west side of town. The area has home improvement centers, wholesale warehouses, and shopping plazas.”
