Rewrite the Apocalypse dream (by Dee Cari) novel Chapter 235

Chapter 235 Incoming Horde

Finished

Hearing Joanna’s warning, the soldiers dug deep into their remaining reserves, and the entire column broke into a heavy, synchronized jog down the snowy street.

They were halfway to the designated northern extraction zone when a loud, aggressive motorcycle engine tore through the winter air.

“Incoming!” RJ yelled, her head snapping toward the eastern intersection. Her telepathic radar flared as she picked up the chaotic minds of a massive oncoming threat. “That cycle is actively drawing the horde from the east! They’re cutting across the intersection. We need to get ahead of them now!”

Briggs tapped his comms earbud, shouting to the seer still safely resting inside Joanna’s pocket dimension. “Caleb! We need help! Are there any structures or buildings nearby we can pull back into?”

Inside Joanna’s mind, Caleb’s frantic psychic message flashed back instantly: ‘No! All the other buildings in this sector will either collapse under the weight of the horde or offer absolutely zero defense. You have to keep moving north!’

Joanna stopped in her tracks, turning back to face her crew. “Get ready for incoming!” she yelled over the rising wind. “I am going to slow down the horde. Keep running!”

Pop.

Space warped violently, and Joanna vanished from the street in a fraction of a second. Major Levi froze, his eyes widening in pure astonishment at the sudden, impossible display of spatial manipulation.

Julian grabbed the Major’s shoulder, shoving him forward to break his paralysis. “Move!” Julian snapped authoritatively. “Don’t stop! Keep your men running!”

Just then, a second roaring motorcycle engine tore through the blinding snow from the south, signaling an entirely new wave of zombies closing in on their position.

But a few seconds later, all the deafening engine noise abruptly stopped.

Pop.

Joanna reappeared back at the front of the moving group, completely unfazed. In those few heartbeats, she had teleported directly into the paths of both riders, executed them with lethal precision, and cut off

the bait.

“It’s big, guys,” Joanna said, her breathing steady but her eyes dead serious.
