Jonna and Briggs moved like a localized natural disaster, flickering across the tactical triangle in a series of violent, micro-second spatial jumps.

First, they snapped into the shadows of the western warehouse. The air inside reeked heavily of petroleum. Row after row of towering fuel bladders and steel druins stretched into the darkness-the Blood Fang had obviously hoarded most of the gasoline left in the entire city. Joanna smirked, her pocket dimension yawning open. Spatial tears ripped through the air, the localized vortex swallowing the massive fuel caches whole into her inventory. Briggs grabbed the remaining opened drums, kicking them over to send thick sheets of the left-behind fluid hissing across the floorboards. In twenty seconds flat, the floor was stripped down to bare, fuel-soaked concrete.

Pop.

Space folded again, dropping them directly into the second warehouse at the northern point. Here, the Blood Fang had stockpiled fresh meat and canned goods. Joanna didn’t waste a heartbeat. Her dimension dragged the massive steel containers into the void before the guards outside even noticed the draft. Briggs kept pace right behind her, splashing gasoline over the remaining wooden structural beams, the chemical fumes rising fast in the freezing air.

Pop.

The final jump placed them inside the multi-story headquarters where the remaining Blood Fang leaders and elite soldiers were packing up gear. Joanna materialized directly behind a pair of officers, cleanly swiping a stack of encrypted datapads right off their desk before slipping back into the dark. She and Briggs systematically worked their way down the corridors like lethal ghosts, picking the armories clean of every bullet and leaving a glistening trail of gasoline dripping down the grand staircases.

Stepping out onto the street, Joanna executed a wider, sweeping jump along the outer perimeter walls. As they blurred past the intersections, Briggs used their stolen bounty to leave a thick, black line of highly volatile fluid pooling across several entire city blocks, linking all three strongholds into a single, massive fuse.

The cold space on the roof snapped back into focus as Joanna materialized, dragging Briggs out of her pocket dimension alongside her. The biting wind caught her coat, but she froze instantly, her eyes locking onto the center of the rooftop gravel.

RJ wasn’t alone.

Standing a few feet away from her was a tall, lean man completely shrouded in pitch-black tactical gear. He stood motionless against the gray dawn sky, like a shadow that had detached itself from the city below. RJ was frozen, her breath coming in tight plumes of white mist, her posture rigid.

Suddenly, the tall man turned toward them.

The man held up his hands, his smile widening slightly. “Stay calm, Demoness. I crossed this entire city just to look for you.”

Joanna didn’t hesitate. In a split-second flash, she folded space. She materialized a few yards back, cleanly dragging RJ out of the stranger’s immediate vicinity and dropping her safely right next to Briggs.

The tall man’s eyes widened in admiration. The dark, eerie aura around him vanished for a fraction of a

second, replaced by a genuine, honest grin. He let out a low whistle.

he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. “That really is OP!”

Briggs let raw fire ignite across his knuckles, the flames hissing in the biting wind, but Brandon barely spared him a glance.

“Caleb sent a message this afternoon to abandon the city,” Brandon said, keeping his hands empty and visible. “I would like to come with you guys.” He paused, his expression turning serious. “My name is Brandon. You know my cousin… Simon Fletcher.”

Joanna’s eyes narrowed instantly, the name striking a chord.

Brandon’s smile remained fixed as he waited for her response.

Slipping into the secure channels of her mind, Joanna pulled up a mental interface, typing out a quick, encrypted psychic text directly to Caleb: Do you know about Brandon? He is Simon Fletcher’s cousin.

A moment later, a sleek mental text block pinged back from Caleb, the tone of his words laced with heavy caution: You need to figure out a way to get him to Fletcher, but keep him at arm’s length. He is dangerous.

Joanna cleared the message from her mind, her eyes dropping back to Brandon as the cold wind whipped between them. She had her orders, but handling a shadow psychic who could bypass RJ’s senses was going to be a razor-thin tightrope walk.

“I am kind of busy right now, but I am willing to help you,” Joanna said, her voice cutting through the freezing air.
