Chapter 312 Fletcher Stands With Joanna

Caleb cleared his throat, pulling everyone’s attention back to the strategy at hand. “It seems like they want you and Briggs because of your powers. They didn’t know about RJ yet.”

Joanna leaned back, absorbing the information while keeping her gaze locked on the dream weaver. “Who is the mole in Glacier’s City then?”

“A man named Sam,” Caleb replied softly, his face dead serious. “He is currently being transferred near Glacier, so you will have to be careful when you arrive. You will be recognized as the demoness on site.

The table went quiet as the weight of the upcoming journey settled over them. The threat wasn’t just limited to Brad and Wendy’s petty base politics anymore; a trap was already being set for them at their final destination.

Joanna frowned, her mind working through the tactical timeline. She didn’t have the luxury of time to squeeze Brad or Wendy for information right now.

She looked over at her team, her voice dropping into her commander tone. “We need to intercept the guy who was with Brad.”

Caleb smiled, a knowing glint in his eyes. “He is going to be battling some mutant rabbits in about an hour. Unfortunately, he has fire powers as well and will escape, but if we hurry, we can catch him before he gets away.”

Joanna nodded, then paused as a sudden realization hit her. She looked over at Julian. “Hey! Where is my fat cat?”

Julian sighed heavily, rubbing his temples in exasperation. “That mutant fat fur bag refused to sleep outside. I fed him steak and he went right into your bedroom.”

The moment the words left Julian’s mouth, everyone at the table froze.

Will’s eyes went completely wide, his previous smugness vanishing into pure terror. “I thought you killed it!” he yelled, gripping the edge of the table. “That monster is here?!”

Joanna held her hand up, signaling for quiet to calm him down, “It’s okay, guys. The fat cat is bonded to me. It won’t hurt any of us now.” She smirked, a dangerous spark entering her eyes as she stood up from the table. “Besides, if the traitor is going to fight against rabbits, I can take my new cat with me when we catch up. It’ll be a perfect test run.”

“I am going to change clothes and we can leave,” Joanna said, pushing her chair back from the table. “Everyone stay here, but be ready to be pulled out at a moment’s notice.”

Julian stood up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floorboards as sparks of restless electricity danced along his knuckles. “I don’t like all this hide-and-seek crap!”

Joanna paused, looking directly at him. “I don’t either. But we still don’t know who Jax and Elliot are working

under now.”

Caleb added from across the table, his voice low and grim. “Wendy and Sam are taking orders from Jax and Elliot. But they don’t even know who the big boss is. We still don’t know who is ultimately after us.”

The room grew quiet, the looming shadow of an unknown enemy chilling the warmth of the villa. Joanna stepped closer to Julian, reaching out to grab his hand. She gave it a firm, reassuring squeeze.

“I don’t like hiding either,” Joanna said softly, her eyes flashing with determination. “But once we know exactly what we are dealing with… we can come out of hiding and end this.”

Joanna teleported straight out of the room, leaving the warmth of the villa behind. She quietly traveled to Fletcher’s building in three rapid jumps, completely skipping the perimeter guards, and materialized directly inside his private quarters.

The room was dark. Fletcher was alone, a glass of whiskey in his hand as he studied a stack of tactical papers under the dim glow of a desk lamp.

“Fletcher,” Joanna called out softly into the shadows.

His head snapped up, every muscle in his body instantly tensing. He relaxed only a fraction when he recognized her, a deep frown settling onto his face. “Little Dove. What are you doing here after the sun has set?”

She crossed the room, her footsteps making no sound on the floor. “I came to say goodbye.”

His brow lifted in surprise. “Leaving so soon? I was just clearing my schedule so I could spend some time with you and your crew tomorrow.”

Joanna smiled, a cold, sharp expression. “The mole is a girl named Wendy, who has been sleeping with Brad.”

The heavy crystal glass in Fletcher’s hand shattered completely under the sudden, furious pressure of his grip. Whiskey and shards of glass rained down onto his desk, soaking the papers.

“Brad!” Fletcher snarled, his voice vibrating with a terrifying rage. “I saved his life, and this is how he repays

me?”

Joanna sighed and grabbed a rag from Fletcher’s table, handing it over to him. His hand was bleeding, a steady crimson drip mixing with the spilled whiskey on the desktop.

“Don’t worry, I will let you deal with them,” Joanna said, her voice smooth and entirely unfazed by the sudden burst of violence. “Just don’t let me see any of them again, or they are dead.”

Fletcher took the rag, wrapping it tightly around his palm as his cold, cruel streak fully broke through his calm facade. The mask of a reasonable leader vanished, replaced by the ruthless calculation of a survivor who tolerated zero dissent.

“They won’t live to see morning,” Fletcher promised, his eyes narrowing into slits.

Joanna smiled. There it was. That was the terrifying warlord Joanna knew, the man who had carved out a brutal empire from the ashes of the old world. Leaving the mess in his capable, bloody hands was much better than wasting her own time.

With her farewell delivered and the base’s internal cleanup secured, she needed to move fast. The fire- powered messenger’s meeting with the mutant rabbits was drawing closer by the minute.
