Chapter 692 A New Path to the Summit
Hremembered that Alan and Logan had arrived around the same time as the rest of them.
That meant Steven’s group must have gotten here earlier.
When the flames erupted, Darby had looked almost crazed. His face had been filled with frustration and
anger.
Something about his reaction had seemed wrong.
It was almost as if someone had stolen something that belonged to him.
Has someone already reached the stone platform before us?
Maybe that girl–the Divine Knight who somehow defeated a Divine King.
Something doesn’t add up.
But that theory has holes too.
Darby’s far more dangerous than he looks. Can Steven and Bianca really kill him?
Maybe… Maybe not.
Then there are only two possibilities.
Darby gets the Ember Sacred Sword fragment. Maybe he kills Steven and Bianca, or maybe he just takes the fragment and escapes.
Or Steven’s group gets it first, and Darby’s chasing them.
Either one makes sense.
Heath’s expression darkened. The Spiritreaper Squad had suffered terrible losses, yet he had gained nothing from this mission. How could he accept that?
He knew one thing for certain. Whoever had taken the fragment wouldn’t dare tell anyone.
That meant he still had a chance. If Darby had it, Heath could find a way to kill him and take it.
If Ashen had it, that might be even easier.
For now, he only needed to wait and watch.
And investigate everything he could.
Before long, the different Celestial Army units and Awakened Squads regrouped and began pulling out.
It wasn’t safe to stay here any longer.
One group after another left the area.

But there was no joy among the survivors.
Romany people had died.
Some squads had been wiped out completely.
Even the surviving teams had only a handful of battered fighters left.
The price had been terrible.
With that, the rescue mission in the Solaria Mountains finally came to an end.
Finished
Steven and the other three eventually reached Cloudspire.
Edric and his people were already gone. They had left some time ago.
The communications blackout had also disappeared.
After getting in touch with them, Steven learned that they had already left the Solaria Mountains and reached the border.
Steven wasn’t in a hurry to catch up. He and Bianca needed time to recover first.
Both of them were completely drained. They barely had any strength left. Traveling in that condition would be far too dangerous.
Steven activated his breathing technique.
Divine essence from the surrounding area rushed toward him as his strength quickly returned.
Bianca began recovering as well.
She didn’t have a breathing technique, but something strange had happened to her body.
It was as if she had gone through some incredible transformation. As she absorbed divine crystals, divine essence from the air naturally flowed into her body.
The amount she drew in was almost enough to rival Steven.
Logan and Alan stared at them in amazement.
Logan shook his head. “I’m sticking with Ashen from now on.”
Alan looked at him. “You’re not going back to Quitas?”
“Fuck no. Nobody there cares whether I stay or leave. Why would I go back? Besides, Bianca already promised I could join Ashen.”
Alan gave a nod and said nothing more. He returned his attention to recovering.
He still didn’t dare relax.

The danger in the Solaria Mountains might be over, but the other problem wasn’t.
they make a move?
Alan didn’t know.
Either way, he had to stay ready for anything.
Until they returned to Orroux, he couldn’t lower his guard..
The bigger problem was that he’d already burned through more than seventy percent of the Eightfold Domain’s power.
They continued resting until the next morning.
By then, Steven and Bianca had finally recovered.
Bianca had even evolved again.
She had reached level 36!
Her growth was unbelievably fast.
Steven could see that the limit of her Divine Sigil was still rising rapidly.
At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before she reached five–sigil.
