Chapter 693 The Long Road to Orroux
“Banca, if you ever need equipment or resources, just let me know. Even if it’s the stars in the sky, I’ll figure out a way to bring them down for you.”
A soft smile appeared on Bianca’s beautiful face. Ever since she obtained the Ember Sacred Sword, something about her seemed to have changed.
It was subtle. She seemed almost otherworldly now.
Steven laughed. “Leave the star–grabbing to me.”
Bianca smiled sweetly. “I only want a star if Steven gets it for me.”
Logan stared at them. Seriously?
He groaned. “I really should’ve kept my mouth shut.”
Steven grinned. “Let’s go!”
The four of them headed west at full speed.
Along the way, Steven moved closer to Alan.
“About that thing…”
Alan shook his head. “Still nothing. Something about it feels strange.”
Steven nodded and didn’t ask any more questions.
Before long, they crossed the border of the mountain region.
They found the others waiting in a small valley.

The groups were finally reunited.
Edric and the others were thrilled. They hurried forward to greet them.
“Captain Alan! Vice Captain! Bianca!”
Steven and the others smiled. Everyone was safe.
Shane and his group also came over.
“Is it over?” Shane asked.
“It’s over. What about everyone else? How many survived?”
“Maybe 50 to 60.”
Everyone froze.

Chapter 693 The Long Road to Orroux
So few people had survived.
The remaining members of Soulreaver and Nebula were shaken.
Too many people had died in yesterday’s battle.
They had Alan to thank for being alive.
He had protected them from several devastating attacks.
He was also the one who had ordered them to leave before things got worse.
The Soulreaver members looked at Alan with mixed feelings.
Why? Why does Alan save us?
In the end, Valkyries hadn’t lost a single member. Soulreaver had only lost Beckett, the traitor.
Nebula had lost five teammates, leaving only seven.
Without Alan’s help, both squads might have been wiped out.
Shane sighed. “That was way too close. So many top Divine Generals died. Even Divine Kings were killed…”
Steven nodded. “We survived. That’s what matters. We can finally head home.”
Shane looked curious. “So what happened in the end? Was it really the Ember Sacred Sword?”
Steven shook his head. “We don’t know. A blast of fire knocked us unconscious. By the time we came around, everything was over. Darby and his people might have taken it.”
Everyone’s expression changed.
The God Eaters had taken it?
That was bad news.
But Steven and the others had already agreed on their story. The safest choice was to blame the God Eaters.
They would keep the truth hidden for as long as possible.
Just then, William and James approached with their teammates.
The two sides stared at each other.
James spoke first. “You killed my brother, so I came after you for revenge. I lost. I wasn’t strong enough. But. you saved my teammates-”
Alan cut him off.
“You can still come after me if you want revenge. I’ll be waiting. I saved you because, for all our differences, your people stood together when it mattered. You acted like a real Awakened Squad.”

James opened his mouth, but no words came out.

o was he supposed to let all of this go? His brother really had died at Alan’s hands.
Yet Alan had just saved his teammates.
James no longer knew what to say.
William was about to speak as well, but he stopped when he saw Alan’s cold expression.
Alan clearly had nothing else to say to them.
He turned toward his teammates. “Let’s go. The sooner we leave this place, the better. We’re heading back to Orroux.”
Everyone started moving.
William suddenly called after him. “Did you save us because you feel guilty?”
Alan didn’t even slow down. “You’re imagining things. What do I have to feel guilty about? I’ve never regretted what I did.”
