I watched his truck disappear down the road, and when it vanished around the bend,

something inside me finally loosened and Jace moved beside me.

“You okay?” He asked and I nodded.

“I am.” I said.

I looked around Lawson Customs, at the people gathered nearby and the motorcycles lining

the driveway, and I realized how much this place had become more than a workshop.

Jace wrapped an arm around me.

“For the first time, it feels like everything is finally over.” I said and George smiled.

“Some things are.” George said and I looked at him.

“What does that mean?” I asked.

“Life has a habit of replacing old problems with new ones.” He said and I laughed.

“That isn’t reassuring.” I said.

“It wasn’t supposed to be.” He said.

Everyone laughed, and the last of the tension disappeared.

When the engines started again, nobody was riding toward a fight or looking over their

shoulders.

We were simply going home, and for the first time in years, home felt peaceful.

The war was over.

Victor was behind bars, Sarah was facing the consequences of her choices, and Charlotte

was rebuilding her relationship with me. My parents were slowly finding their place in my life, while Ben continued learning his trade, Mia managed both Lawson Customs locations, and Aiden had become an important part of the workshop team.

George still told stories about Uncle Will, and Jace and I were building the life we’d always

wanted.

Our baby was almost here and I rested my hand over my stomach as another kick pressed

against my palm.

“You hear that?” Jace asked.

“I think our child is already complaining about your driving.” I said and he laughed.

“That sounds like your kid.” He said.

*Our kid.” I corrected and he kissed my forehead.

*Our kid.” He said.

I smiled because, for once, there was nothing left to fear.

At least, that was what I believed.

Six months later…

The sound of a motorcycle engine rolled across the Lawson Customs parking lot just after

sunrise.

I stepped outside the front doors with a coffee in one hand and a small bundle tucked

carefully against my chest.

The morning air was cool, and the workshop was already alive behind me.

Ben was arguing with Aiden about an engine part. Mia was standing near the office door with

a tablet in her hand.

Emma and Sophia were laughing near the customer entrance and George was sitting on an

old chair beside the garage bay, drinking coffee like he owned the place.

And Jace was leaning against his motorcycle, watching me with the same smile that still

made my heart trip over itself.

I looked down at the baby sleeping peacefully against me.

Six months ago, I had stood in this exact place and watched Damien drive away.

At the time, I thought that moment had been the final piece of the past falling into place.

I had been right.

The war was gone. The fear was gone. The secrets were gone.

But life had changed in ways I never could have imagined.

Lawson Customs had grown again, and the second location was running smoothly under

Mia’s management.

Ben was no longer the nervous young mechanic who doubted himself, because he had started saving money for his own workshop and had already found a small property he

wanted to inspect.

Aiden had become one of his biggest supporters.

Charlotte had stayed in my life, and while things between us were still healing, they were

finally real.

My relationship with my parents had changed too, because forgiveness had not erased the past, but it had stopped the past from controlling the future.

Most importantly, Jace and I had our daughter.

Our little girl had arrived two weeks after the memorial ride, and the moment Jace had held her for the first time, I had watched the hardest man I knew completely fall apart.

I smiled at the memory.

Jace pushed away from his bike and walked toward me.

“She’s asleep?” She asked.

“She just went down.” I said.

He looked at our daughter with a tenderness that still surprised me.

“She looks peaceful.” He said.

“She gets that from me.” I said and he raised an eyebrow.

“You’ve never been peaceful in your life.” He said and I laughed quietly.

“You married me anyway.” I said.

“I did.” He said as he leaned down and kissed my forehead.

“And I’d do it again.” He added.

Before I could answer, George cleared his throat.

“Are you two finished being disgustingly happy?” He asked and I looked over at him.

“You could always leave.” I said.

“I’ve been coming here longer than you’ve been married, so I think I’m entitled to complain.”

He said and everyone laughed.

I looked around the workshop, and for a moment, I simply stood there.

This place had once been Uncle Will’s dream. Now it was mine too.

The walls carried memories, the tools carried history, and the people around me had become

family.

I had spent years believing that family was something you inherited.

Uncle Will had taught me otherwise. Family was built. Family was chosen. Family was

protected.
