Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 488
CHAPTER 257-1
The morning sun was barely above the trees when Jace handed me my helmet.
“You ready?” He asked and I smiled as I looked at him.
“Are you asking if I’m ready for a ride, or are you checking whether I’m going to complain
about you driving?” I asked.
“Both.” He said.
“Then yes, I’m ready.” I said.
Jace laughed and climbed onto his motorcycle.
Our daughter was staying with Emma for the morning, and although leaving her for a few
hours had felt strange at first, I knew she was in good hands.
Emma had practically insisted.
“You two need time together. Go ride, have breakfast, and remember that you’re married
people instead of exhausted parents.” She had told us while taking our daughter from my
arms.
I had laughed because she wasn’t wrong.
Jace waited until I was settled behind him before starting the engine. I wrapped my arms
around his waist, and when the motorcycle rolled away from the house, I felt something
inside me relax.
There had been a time when every ride meant danger. Every road could lead to an ambush,
every unfamiliar vehicle could be a threat, and every phone call could change our lives.
Now, we were simply riding.
No weapons were hidden beneath jackets. Nobody was following us. Nobody was waiting
around the next corner.
There was only the open road.
Jace took us through the countryside, following roads that wound between fields and tall
trees before opening onto a long stretch of highway.

I rested my cheek against his back for a moment and smiled.
“This is nice.” I called over the wind and he glanced back slightly.
“What was that?” He asked.
“I said you’re driving too slowly.” I said and he laughed.
“You said it was nice.” He said.
“I changed my mind.” I said.
“You always do.” He said and I tightened my arms around him.
“I married you because you tolerate me.” I said.
“I married you because you make my life interesting.” He said.
“That’s a nicer way of saying I’m difficult.” I said.
“You are difficult.” He said and I laughed against his back.
“I love you too.” I said.
He reached down and squeezed my hand briefly before returning it to the handlebars.

We eventually stopped at a small roadside café, and for the first time in months, we sat
across from each other without a baby monitor between us or a workshop schedule
demanding our attention.
Jace took a sip of coffee.
“I missed this.” Jace said as I looked at him.
“Breakfast?” I asked.
“Having you to myself.” He said and my smile softened.
“I missed it too.” I said.
Parenthood had changed everything. We loved our daughter more than anything, but there
were nights when we were both exhausted, mornings when neither of us remembered what
day it was, and evenings when we fell asleep on the couch before finishing a conversation.
Somehow, we had learned to find each other again in the middle of all of it. Sometimes it
was a quiet coffee.

Sometimes it was a late-night conversation. Sometimes it was a ride with the wind clearing
our heads.
Today, it was all three.
When we finally returned home, Emma was sitting on the porch with our daughter in her
