Chapter 201
Evelyn
Morning light filtered through the pine branches, warming my naked skin as I lay nestled against Devon’s sleeping form. His chest rose and fell with steady breaths, his face peaceful in slumber. I traced the contours of his jaw with my fingertip, marveling at how everything felt so perfect in this moment. A rare calmness settled over me, as if the world outside these woods had paused, granting me a brief respite from the turmoil inside my mind.
When Devon’s eyes finally fluttered open, that brilliant blue gaze immediately found mine. His lips curved into a smile that made my heart skip.
“Good morning, my mate,‘ he whispered, the word ‘mate‘ carrying a weight and significance that made my wolf purr with contentment. The sound wrapped around me like a protective shield, momentarily silencing the fears that gnawed at my soul.
After we dressed, Devon took my hand, his thumb brushing over the mating mark on the curve of my neck. “I want to take you home today,” he said. “To Blackfang territory.”
I nodded, feeling both excitement and nervousness flutter in my stomach.
We walked hand in hand through a dense pine forest. I could feel the change in the air–an ancient, powerful energy flowing around us, making my white
wolf restless beneath my skin.
“We’re almost there, Devon said softly, his thumb drawing soothing circles on the back of my hand. “Can you feel it? The boundary of the territory.”
I nodded, definitely sensing an invisible barrier, like a protective membrane surrounding this land. But I also felt something else–doubt, scrutiny, even
hostility.
“Devon,” I said nervously, ‘someone’s watching us.”
His expression immediately turned serious. “It’s the patrol. Don’t worry, it’s normal.”
We emerged from the tree line to face a massive stone archway carved with intricate patterns of wolves and moons. Two muscular men stood on either side, their expressions anything but welcoming.
“Alpha,” one of them acknowledged, then his gaze shifted to me, skepticism evident in his eyes. “And this is…?”
“My mate, Evelyn,” Devon’s voice carried authority and a clear warning.
The guards exchanged a look before reluctantly nodding in deference. I could feel their reluctance, making my stomach clench uncomfortably.
As we passed through the archway, I heard one guard mutter, “She looks so young… can she really handle the responsibilities of a Luna?”
I pretended not to hear, but Devon’s hand tightened around mine. His grip was a lifeline, grounding me amid the swirling doubts.
We continued along a stone path, and soon more pack members appeared. Rather than the warm welcome I’d imagined, their reactions were complex–some showed reverence, but most displayed doubt and whispered among themselves.
A group of older women stood by the path, their conversation deliberately loud enough for me to hear:
“She’s too frail…”

Chapter 201
“White wolf bloodline or not, she doesn’t even look as strong as an ordinary omega.”
‘Sophia should be our Luna. She’s grown up here her whole life.”
My cheeks burned, and I found myself slowing down. Devon pulled me closer.
‘Don’t listen to them, he whispered. “They just need time to adjust.”

Just then, a young woman ran toward us, holding a little boy about three years old. The child stared at me with curious eyes before suddenly wriggling free from his mother’s arms and dashing to stand before me.
“Are you really a white wolf?” he asked innocently.
His mother paled, rushing forward. “Tommy! Come back! I’m sorry, Alpha, he’s just a child—”
“It’s okay,” I knelt to be at eye level with the little boy. His innocence brought a warmth to my heart. “Yes, I am a white wolf.”
“My mommy says white wolves protect us,” Tommy said with complete seriousness. “Will you?”
The simple question made my heart constrict. I looked at this innocent child, then glanced around at the doubtful faces surrounding us. ‘I… I’ll try my
best.”
Devon guided me toward the central area of the pack’s territory, showing me various buildings. As we passed the training grounds, an elegant young woman approached us. She had flowing golden hair, a tall, athletic figure, and exuded confidence.
“Devon,” she said sweetly, her voice carrying a familiar intimacy, “welcome home.”
“Sophia, Devon nodded politely but distantly.
Sophia’s gaze landed on me, her lips curving into a smile that appeared friendly but felt challenging. “And this must be the legendary white wolf. How… interesting.”
I could feel the implication in her words and noticed the expectant looks from the pack members gathering around. Their eyes were like silent judges, waiting for me to falter.
“Your power just awakened–can you truly control it in critical moments?” Sophia continued, her voice dripping with fake concern. “We can’t have you losing control and hurting people like the rumors say.”
“Sophia,” Devon warned, but she held up her hand to silence him.
“No, no, I’m just concerned for our pack’s safety,” she said innocently. “After all, we all know how important a Luna’s duties are. If she can’t control her own wolf, how can she protect us in times of crisis?”
The surrounding pack members began to whisper, some nodding in agreement. I felt pressure mounting on me like a physical weight. My chest tightened, breath catching as doubt threatened to overwhelm me.
Sophia’s words pierced like needles, making my chest tighten, but I immediately felt the white wolf within me–no longer a source of fear, but the foundation of my strength. The flicker of doubt was quickly replaced by a newfound determination.
