Nicole heard what Nicolas said, and her heart clenched.

He purposely refused to take the male lead role in her show, which left them still searching for someone suitable.

Nicolas not only brought tons of attention, but he could also get Starlight Entertainment to invest.

Now, he was actually offering himself up as the male lead, even though he and Landon were basically enemies.

It was clear he was still totally hung up on Alicia.

‘How does Alicia always end up so blessed? No matter how hard I try, I just can’t snatch Nicolas away from her, Nicole thought. feeling bitter and frustrated.

In the VIP lounge, Landon turned to Nicolas and said, “Mr. Farrell is the main investor in this show, so the male lead will be an actor from Lucent Media.

“And honestly, I doubt Alicia would want to work with you.”

Alicia, standing nearby, cut in, “Drop the word ‘guess.””

She added, “If Nicolas is cast in a show or movie, I always make sure to stay far away.”

She was totally over Nicolas now. All she felt for him was irritation.

She was done getting involved with him, so naturally she kept her distance.

Nicolas’s heart twisted painfully, and his eyes showed just how hurt he was.

‘Alicia was really going out of her way to avoid me now, he thought, a wave of despair washing over him.

“Was there any chance left for me to win her back?’ he wondered, doubt gnawing at him.

Caleb, hearing this, couldn’t help but say, “Ally, you two have known each other since you were kids. Can’t you just talk things out?”

Alicia shot him a look. “If we could talk it out, we wouldn’t have cut ties in the first place.”

With that, she ignored them and started chatting with Jason, who was standing nearby.

They stood close together, and as they talked, Alicia would laugh, and Jason’s eyes would crinkle with a smile.

Watching them, Nicolas and Caleb just felt even more miserable and jealous.

When Nicole and Jett walked in, Nicole sat down next to Caleb.

“Caleb, you guys got here pretty early.

“Did you not go home last night?” she asked.

Caleb turned his head and noticed Nicole’s eyes were still a bit swollen. She must’ve cried a lot yesterday.

Good thing I went to Nicolas’s place, he thought to himself.

He smiled. “I hung out with Nicolas yesterday. We crashed somewhere near the airport.”

Nicole nodded, then turned to Nicolas and greeted him warmly, “Hey, Nic!”

Nicolas just gave her a cold nod and didn’t say a word.

Seeing him act so distant made Nicole furious.

Nicole’s resentment toward Alicia only grew stronger.

She’d already found out that Alicia was the one who outed her secret account.

If her secret account hadn’t been exposed, Nicolas wouldn’t be avoiding her at all.

And nobody would be laughing at her for trying to go from nobody to somebody.

Not a single person in high society thought she and Nicolas stood a chance.

She pressed her lips together and fell silent.

Jett sat next to her, and for once, he didn’t say a word either.

After a while, it was time to board the plane.

Everyone saw Alicia pushing Jason’s wheelchair like it was the most normal thing in the world, chatting with him as they went through security.

Once they were on the plane, their seats were right next to each other.

After they sat down, they were sitting close together, chatting away. It wasn’t flirty, but there was an unmistakable sense of closeness between them.

Caleb turned to Nicolas and asked, “When did Ally and Jason get so tight?”

He’d heard his sister was spending a lot of time with Jason lately, but this was the first time he’d actually seen them together like this.

Caleb knew Alicia better than anyone, and you could just tell she and Jason were genuinely close.

Nicolas’s face darkened. “Seriously, I wish I knew why they’re suddenly so close.”

He used to be the one laughing and joking with Alicia, but now it was his sworn rival-and it really rubbed him the wrong

way.

After a moment’s thought, Nicolas reached out and gave Landon, who was sitting in front of him, a tap on the shoulder.

They were seated toward the back, a fair distance away from Alicia and Jason.

As long as they kept their voices low, nobody over there would hear a thing.

Landon turned around and gave him a confused look. “What’s up?”

Nicolas lowered his voice. “Didn’t Alicia invite you to join the show? How come you’re not sitting with her?

“You’re really just going to sit there and let Jason steal her right out from under your nose?”

Landon raised an eyebrow, “Wow, after all these years, you still love playing these games, huh?

“Nice try, but I’m not taking the bait.

“Trust me, you should just let it go. There’s no way she’s ever getting back with you.”

‘Back then, I got shipped off overseas, and Nicolas definitely had a hand in that, Landon thought, a trace of old resentment flickering in his eyes.

“You were always scared someone would take Alicia from you, but in the end, you’re the one who drove her away.

“You brought this on yourself. Honestly, serves you right!”

Nicolas’s face darkened. “Even if I can’t end up with her, that doesn’t mean you’ll get her either.

Landon let out a soft laugh. “Don’t worry about me. If she chooses someone else, I’d still wish her the best.

“I won’t be freaking out like you.”

Landon did have feelings for Alicia, and that was part of why he came back early-to see if he had a shot.

But he couldn’t help feeling a bit bitter when he realized Alicia just wasn’t into him.

Whenever they hung out, it was always just friendly vibes between them.

It wasn’t like the spark she used to have with Nicolas, or the kind of closeness she had with Jason now.

The idea of Alicia actually getting together with Jason was the one thing Nicolas just couldn’t handle.

And seriously, what does it matter to you? She’s done with you.”

He deliberately taunted, “Stop acting like you’ve got a shot with her. She’s way out of your league.”

Nicolas choked on his words, his face growing even darker. “You-!”

Landon just ignored him and turned away, not interested in arguing any further.
