Jason nodded at her.

He said. “I went looking for him, and I did find him.

“But he said we just didn’t click, so he wouldn’t treat me.

After the accident left him unable to walk properly, someone told him about this legendary doctor who was supposed to be

a miracle worker.

They said the guy could get people with old, broken legs back on their feet, so Jason thought maybe there was hope for him

Jason finally managed to get someone to put in a good word for him.

But as soon as the doctor heard it was Jason, he didn’t even bother to come see him-just turned him down flat.

“I honestly have no idea what I did to get on his bad side. Jason said.

“I heard he’s pretty eccentric, and once flat-out refused to treat a super rich guy.

“But that guy just wouldn’t give up-he even sent people to block the doctor and force him to come treat him.

The doctor finally went, but instead of curing him, the guy’s illness got twice as bad-he almost died.

“Even though they became sworn enemies after that, the billionaire never dared cross him again.

“Stuff like that happened more than once.

“So after that, no one dared to push him if he said no.

“When he turned me down. I just gave up too.”

Compared to that miracle doctor, Jason definitely put more faith in Alicia.

He turned to her and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you saying there’s something off about how he treated Jet?”

Jason hadn’t been there in person today, but he’d watched the whole thing live.

Alicia replied, “Yeah, normally he shouldn’t have a severe internal depletion of vital energy, but it’s actually pretty bad

“And his pulse is weird-like something’s hidden, or maybe someone’s messed with him.

“Just checking his pulse isn’t enough to figure it out. I’d need to do some acupuncture to get things moving, then take another look.

She shrugged again. “It’s not like we’re close enough for me to take the initiative and offer to help him out.”

Jason thought for a moment. “Maybe he was just using your banter as an excuse to see if you’d take a look at him-like he was trying to test you?

The Kingsley family’s doting on him isn’t just for show.

“So he shouldn’t be all worked up at home.”

He asked, “Could it be some kind of lingering issue from before?”

Alicia shook her head. “It’s definitely not some lingering aftereffect from before-that much I can say for sure.

Anyway, if he’s hoping I’ll treat him, or if he’s got something else in mind, he’ll reach out to me himself.”

After everything that happened today, Alicia kept replaying the details of how she’d met Jett in her previous life.

Now she realized that the whole scheme to lock her and Jett in a hotel room-supposedly to help Nicole out and “seal the deal-probably wasn’t as straightforward as it looked.

She’d seen right through it back then.

She started to suspect that maybe it wasn’t about sealing the deal at all, but just about getting them stuck together in that hotel room.

‘So what was he really after?’ Alicia wondered to herself.

But it was just a guess-she couldn’t be sure.

In her last life, she’d left the country not long after beating Jett up.

This time, since she’d cut ties, a lot of things had changed, so it wasn’t really surprising that Jett showed up earlier than before.

She didn’t bother guessing any further.

‘I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it,’ Alicia thought. ‘If that guy really has some other agenda, he’ll show his true colors eventually.’

Jason nodded. “Yeah, if he’s got something up his sleeve, he’ll slip up sooner or later.”

He added, “Trust me, he’s not nearly as naive as he pretends to be.

“So when you’re dealing with him on the show, make sure you keep your guard up.”

Alicia nodded. “Got it!”

But she could feel that Jett never had any bad intentions toward her, no matter if it was before or now.

Still, it never hurts to keep your guard up.

She asked, “Are you coming with me to Greenpeak Village this time?”

Jason replied, “Yeah, I’m coming along. I’ve already taken care of all the important stuff at the company lately.

“I even had the production team book me a ticket too.”

Alicia nodded. “Acupuncture’s at a really critical point right now, and I can’t afford to miss a single session. Having you come along definitely makes me feel a lot safer.”

Jason grinned. “Glad we’re on the same page.

They chatted for a while longer, and once the acupuncture session was done, Alicia went home to get ready for the trip

tomorrow.

Early the next morning, the production team sent cars to pick up the guests.

With Lucent Media and Starlight Entertainment throwing in a ton of cash, everyone on the show got hooked up with first- class tickets.

At the airport, there was a VIP lounge reserved exclusively for the cast and crew-talk about traveling in style.

When Alicia and Jason showed up, the only ones there were Simon and Hannah.

Alicia introduced Jason to them.

This time, Jason was there in the capacity of her manager.

She was still keeping the fact that she was treating his leg under wraps.

Simon and Hannah were very polite to Jason, but you could tell they felt a bit awkward around him.

Then, Landon walked in.

Alicia had already let him know Jason would be tagging along, so he wasn’t surprised at all.

He greeted Jason like they were old friends and started chatting with him right away.

After a while, Nicolas and Caleb showed up too.

When they spotted Alicia, their eyes lit up.

But the moment they saw Jason sitting next to her, their expressions turned sour.

Nicolas, in particular, looked downright pissed.

He shot Jason a glare and asked, “What are you doing here?”

Jason just looked at him like he was crazy. “What’s it to you?”

Nicolas was left speechless-he had no comeback.

With a cold expression, Nicolas and Caleb both took seats directly across from them.

Caleb sat down and immediately fixed his eyes on Alicia.

But Alicia didn’t even spare him a glance.

His heart sank-Alicia had never treated her own brother like this before.

After a moment, he finally spoke up. “Ally, will you have any free time after this season of the show wraps up?”

Only then did Alicia finally look up at him.

Caleb continued, “I’m about to start shooting a top-tier historical romance drama. If you’re interested, you could try out for the second female lead.”

Alicia raised an eyebrow. “Is Nicole playing the lead role?”

Caleb’s heart sank when he heard her question.

He’d only been focused on how working together would mean more time with Alicia on set.

But he’d overlooked the fact that Nicole was already cast as the lead actress.

He gave an awkward smile. “Yeah.”

Alicia shot him a frosty look and just let him stew in the awkwardness.

Landon piped up, “Man, that’s pretty low of you, Caleb.

“You want Alicia to play backup for Nicole? Is Nicole even good enough for that? Or are you?”

Caleb’s face darkened-Landon just had to bring that up.

He said, “That’s not what I meant. I wasn’t trying to make Ally play second fiddle to Nicole.

“I just thought the second female lead is a pretty charming role. If Ally’s thinking about switching to acting, she could give it a shot.”

Landon grinned. “Don’t bother, she’s already signed on as the lead in my new drama.”

Caleb stared, dumbfounded. “You’re filming a new show? Alicia’s your female lead?”

Alicia snorted. “What’s that supposed to mean, huh? You think I’m not good enough to be the lead?”

Caleb forced a sheepish grin. “No way, that’s not what I meant. Of course you can be the lead.

“I’m just surprised, really.”

He went on, “Landon’s spent most of his time overseas, so he probably isn’t too familiar with how things work here yet.

“If you want to play the lead, I’ll tailor my next show just for you.”

Basically, he was saying your brother’s the one you can really count on.

Alicia just rolled her eyes at him. “I don’t need your last-minute charity.”

She added, “Besides, Landon’s got way more skill as a director. Honestly, I just can’t trust you with this.

“That’s why I’m not interested in any of your shows.”

Caleb felt that one cut deep-her words really hit where it hurt.

He couldn’t stand it when people compared him to Landon and said he wasn’t as capable.

His own sister knew that, and yet she still threw it in his face.

Man, that was a real punch to the gut.

Nicolas interjected, “Has the male lead been decided yet?”

He motioned to himself, “If not, maybe you could consider me.”

Even though he and Landon didn’t get along, if it meant acting alongside Alicia, he’d suck it up.
