Rising From Betrayal Reborn As The Family Outcast novel Chapter 110

Chapter 110

As soon as Alicia dropped that bomb, the whole room fell silent.

Everyone froze for a moment, then thought to themselves, ‘Yep, trust Alicia to pull something like this.

All eyes turned to Nicole.

Nicole had already guessed Alicia might target her.

But she never expected Alicia to ask something like that.

‘How am I supposed to answer this?’ Nicole thought, her mind racing.

No matter what, there was no way she could admit she hated Alicia.

She forced herself to stay calm, repeating over and over in her head, ‘I don’t hate Alicia. I don’t hate Alicia.’

Finally, she forced herself to say, “I don’t hate Alicia.”

But as soon as the words left her mouth, the lie detector flashed red and let out a sharp beep.

The host glanced at Nicole and said, “Ms. Hammond, the lie detector says you’re not telling the truth.

“Here’s another chance for you.

“Do you want to stick with your original answer, or do you want to change it?”

Nicole hadn’t expected that, even after telling herself over and over, the lie detector would still go off.

Her face darkened as she pressed her lips together. “I’ll stick with my original answer.”

She looked Alicia straight in the eye and said, “I don’t hate you.”

But as soon as she finished, the lie detector beeped again, flashing red.

Alicia let out a mocking laugh. “You always wanted to be close sisters with me, huh? Dreamed of having someone like me as your big sis?

“I’m dying over here!”

She shot a look at Nicolas and Caleb. “I told you two you were totally blind. Ever since Nicole set foot in the Hammond family, she’s treated me like her enemy, but you never listened.

“Back when Nicole and her mom first came to the Hammond family, I heard she’d had it rough growing up, so I went out of my way to be kind to her.

“But instead of appreciating it, she just plotted against me. No way I’d keep a snake like her by my side.

Alicia scoffed, “Now that the lie detector’s called you out, I wonder if you two are still gonna keep lying to yourselves”

When her dad decided to marry Nicole’s mom, Alicia couldn’t help but feel unhappy about it.

But honestly, her dad wasn’t that old at the time, so wanting someone by his side for the rest of his life was pretty normal

He even claimed he wasn’t marrying Nicole’s mom out of love-he just wanted someone to help take care of Alicia and her brothers.

So yeah, Alicia definitely had her reservations about Nicole and her mom at first, but she kept all those feelings bottled up

inside.

When Alicia heard Nicole had been abused as a kid, and saw this skinny little thing with marks all over her, she actually felt sorry for her.

She even tried to show Nicole some goodwill, making an effort to be friendly.

Back then, there was no beef between them-Alicia had no reason to go after a poor kid who’d already had it rough.

But Nicole didn’t take the olive branch. Instead, she played Alicia for a fool once.

Once Alicia caught on, she started keeping her distance from her “pitiful” stepsister.

Nicole’s mom always put on a friendly face, but in reality, she wanted to ruin Alicia by spoiling her so much she’d end up

useless.

Whenever Alicia did well in school, Nicole’s mom would shower her with treats and push her to slack off and play, hoping she’d pick up bad habits.

But Alicia caught on and didn’t fall for it-she went straight to her ex-dad and told him what was going on.

He didn’t really buy it, though. He said Nicole’s mom was just trying to fit in with the Hammond family and wanted to be super nice to Alicia so she’d feel welcome, which was why she spoiled her so much.

He said he’d ask Nicole’s mom to be more careful.

From that day on, Alicia started feeling let down by her dad, and that feeling just kept growing.

Nicole and her mom made a habit of putting Alicia down and scheming behind her back, always acting like the poor victims in the Hammond family just to milk everyone for sympathy and love.

Later on, Alicia started to pick up on the fact that Nicole’s mom really had it out for her, even though she kept it well hidden.

At first, Alicia couldn’t figure out why Nicole’s mom always singled her out, but was totally fine with her three brothers, even though they were all part of the Hammond family.

After doing some digging and finding out Nicole’s mom had been secretly in love with her dad for years, Alicia finally got it.

Since Alicia looked and carried herself a lot like her own mom, Nicole’s mom just couldn’t stand her-she basically transferred all that old resentment onto Alicia.

The moment the lie detector beeped for the first time, Caleb and Nicolas’s faces both changed.

Caleb, especially, looked completely stunned, disbelief written all over his face.

He clearly hadn’t expected this outcome, and he just couldn’t accept that Nicole was lying when she said she didn’t hate

Alicia.

When the lie detector beeped again, Caleb felt his heart drop, a storm of emotions swirling inside him.

Now, hearing Alicia’s sarcasm, his expression shifted once more.

Caleb opened his mouth to speak, but the words just wouldn’t come.

Just then, Nicole started sobbing out loud and tore the lie detector off.

“This lie detector is obviously busted! You’re all just trying to set me up!” Nicole cried.

She looked at Alicia and insisted, “I don’t hate you! Back then, I honestly wanted us to be real sisters!”

Alicia arched an eyebrow. “So you really can’t handle it now that your true colors are out in the open?

“Blaming the lie detector? Wow, you’ll say anything to make excuses, Nicole.”

She strapped the lie detector onto herself and looked at Landon. “Ask me if I hate Nicole.”

Landon asked, “Do you hate Nicole?”

Alicia replied, “I don’t hate her.”

The lie detector beeped and flashed red.

Landon immediately asked again.

This time, Alicia switched it up. “I hate her. I really, really do.”

This time, the lie detector didn’t react at all.

Alicia smirked at Nicole. “So, Nicole, still think this lie detector’s busted?

“Ever since you and your mom started plotting against me, I’ve told everyone straight up-I don’t like either of you.

“And now, I’m saying it live for everyone to hear-I really do hate you and your mom.

“Can you do the same, Nicole?”

She taunted, “Go ahead, strap on the lie detector and say you hate me. Let’s see if it goes off.”

Nicole was so furious at Alicia’s relentless attacks, she wanted nothing more than to tear her apart right then and there.

But there was absolutely no way she was going to say another word with that lie detector strapped on.

If she did, the persona she’d worked so hard to build would come crashing down in an instant.

Suddenly, Nicole jumped up, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Why are you all trying to force me like this?

“I told you I don’t hate her! I really don’t!

“Why do my feelings have to be judged by some soulless machine?

“I don’t trust this thing at all!”

She wiped her tears away. “I’m not feeling well, I’m going to my room. You guys have fun without me.”

With that, she turned and hurried out of the room.

That left everyone staring at each other, not knowing what to say.

At this point, nobody believed a word Nicole said-they all figured she was just feeling guilty and trying to dodge the truth.

[Nicole really can’t take the heat!]

[Her true feelings got exposed, her whole persona just collapsed. No wonder she can’t handle it.]

[Nicole and her mom snatched Alicia’s family and her childhood crush, even forced Alicia to cut ties with them. Like, how could they not hate her?]

[Honestly, Nicole’s probably the only one who doesn’t buy the lie detector. I’m totally convinced.]

[This is insane! Only Alicia could go this hard.]

[Alicia straight-up admits she hates Nicole, no sugarcoating it. Meanwhile, Nicole lied through her teeth and then bailed when she couldn’t keep up. What a joke.]

[Alicia, you’re a queen! Finally exposing Nicole for the fake innocent act she’s been playing.]

The live chat was going wild, hyping up Alicia and clowning Nicole for being too scared to keep playing.

Only a handful of Nicole’s fans tried to speak up for her, but they got flamed so hard they went silent almost instantly.

Nicole’s X follower count started dropping fast.

Most of her fans were only there for her rich heiress vibe and that “sweet and innocent” persona she put on.

Now everyone knew she wasn’t the real heiress, and she definitely wasn’t all that sweet or innocent.

These last two live shows ended up exposing a ton of Nicole’s personality flaws.

She was always putting on the waterworks, acting all delicate and fake-just like Alicia said, she was the ultimate two-faced hypocrite.

Nobody likes that kind of fake innocent, secretly scheming type anymore.

At Greenpeak Village.

Alicia wasn’t surprised at all when Nicole ran off in tears.

Tears and that fragile vibe were Nicole’s go-to defense-a tool she used to fish for sympathy and affection.

After years of acting weak, it just became part of who she was; she probably didn’t even realize she was doing it half the time.

Honestly, who wouldn’t get sick of someone crying all the time?

Alicia shot Caleb and Nicolas a teasing look, raising an eyebrow. “Your darling sister just ran off bawling. Aren’t you two gonna go chase after her and cheer her up?”

Then she let out a dramatic sigh. “Oops, looks like I made your good sister cry again. Shame on me, huh?”

People couldn’t help but chuckle at that.

Turns out all those tales about Alicia bullying Nicole into tears back at the Hammond family were way overblown.
