Chapter 112
Jason and Alicia had agreed to meet up.
He stepped out first and waited beneath a large tree near the entrance.
Thanks to the production crew’s setup, there were strings of lights hung outside the villa.
On top of that, a row of lights was draped across the big tree.
So even after dark, you could still see clearly.
Just as he finished his call with his secretary, he saw Nicole come running out.

A hint of amusement flickered in his eyes as he watched her, interested to see what kind of act she was about to put on.
Nicole came running straight at him, wiping away tears, her face buried in her hands, not watching where she was going.
She didn’t seem to notice him until she was right in front of him, then suddenly slammed on the brakes.
But it was too late-she crashed right into him.
Jason could pretty much guess what Nicole was up to the moment she came running at him, crying her eyes out
So when she lunged at him, he backed his wheelchair up just in time, staying out of her reach.
Nicole couldn’t stop herself, and since she failed to throw herself into Jason’s arms like she’d planned, she went down hard, face-first on the ground, looking absolutely pathetic.
Just then, Nicolas and Caleb came back after their walk and chat.
On a nearby path, they just happened to witness the whole thing.
Both of them stopped in their tracks and hid themselves behind some bushes.
They obviously wanted to see what Nicole was trying to pull.
Or maybe they were trying to figure out if there was something between Nicole and Jason.
The path wasn’t far from the big tree, but there weren’t any lights over here, plus there were bushes off to the side.
With the two of them hiding and Nicole so caught up in her own epic wipeout, she didn’t notice them at all.
But Jason, ever the sharp one, picked up on it right away.
Jason looked down at Nicole with icy indifference as she lay sprawled on the ground, not bothering to say a word.
Nicole never thought Jason would actually move out of the way.
She’d faked tears and acted like she wasn’t watching where she was going, all just to run straight at him.
When she was coming downstairs, she heard Alicia’s door open and guessed Jason and Alicia had set up a meeting.
Her whole scheme was to crash right into Jason’s arms, hoping Alicia would walk out and see them together.

Alicia was super sensitive about stuff like this, and Nicole was banking on her getting ticked off at Jason because of it.
Plus, she figured this was the perfect chance to cozy up to Jason and act all pitiful.
She thought she had it all worked out, but she never expected Jason to be so unsporting-and so quick to dodge her.
Instead, she wiped out hard and ended up flat on the ground, totally embarrassed.
But since things had already gone south, all she could do was try to play it off.
She winced and rubbed her foot, pretending it hurt, then sat herself down on the ground.
Then she looked up at Jason, eyes full of tears and embarrassment. “M-Mr. Farrell.”
She stammered, totally flustered. “W-What are you doing here?”
She acted all surprised, like she had no clue he’d be there.
Jason’s eyes were cold as he sneered, “You ran straight at me, trying to throw yourself into my arms. And you want me to believe you didn’t know I was here?”
Nicole hadn’t expected Jason to be so direct about it-and to see right through her little act.
She put on a look of disbelief. “Seriously, how could you think that of me?
“I was just so heartbroken, crying, and I ran out into the dark without even looking where I was going. I really didn’t expect to almost bump into you.”
Jason raised an eyebrow. “Are you blind or what? I’m sitting right under the lights. Even if it’s dark, you should’ve been able to see a living, breathing person like me here.”
Jason had zero tolerance for Nicole-he was downright disgusted by her.
Especially since she was trying to scheme against him, he didn’t feel the need to be civil at all.
Nicole choked on his words, totally caught off guard.
She’d always figured that a cold, brainy CEO like Jason might not be the warmest guy, but he’d at least know how to act like a gentleman.
Who knew he was just a typical clueless dude with zero tact?
But she’d seen how Jason treats Alicia-he’s always so considerate and classy with her.
That just made Nicole even more bitter and jealous inside.
She bit her lip. “Believe it or not, I was crying so hard I could barely see straight. I honestly didn’t even notice you were here.”
Jason said, “I’m not like Nicolas or the Hammond brothers-I won’t fall for your tears or feel sorry for you.
“Tears might be your weapon, but you gotta pick your target.
“Honestly, the way you’re crying right now looks totally fake to me.
“If you think you can play me like you did them, you’re gonna be disappointed. My eyes are wide open-I see right through
you.

“Only Nicolas and the Hammond brothers are the ones who can’t see through you.”

He backed his wheelchair away, looking totally fed up. “And seriously, all that crying is just bad energy. If you want to be unlucky, go ahead-just don’t bring your drama to me.”
He was making it clear to Nicole that she could forget about scheming against him-he wasn’t buying any of her tricks.
And he was also making sure the two hiding in the bushes heard every word.
Nicole was honestly stunned as she looked at Jason-she just couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
Who would’ve thought someone so handsome could have such a savage mouth?
Not only did he have zero clue how to treat a lady, he even said she was bad luck. That was just plain rude.
She looked really aggrieved. “I wasn’t scheming against you! How could you misunderstand me like that?”
Jason said coldly, “You’d better not be. Otherwise, I wouldn’t mind letting Nicolas and Caleb know about all the things you and your mom have been doing in secret.
“Since I’ve been running into them pretty often these days.”
Nicole’s expression shifted. “What are you even talking about? Did Alicia tell you something?
“She’s always misunderstood me. I just hope you won’t believe everything she says.”
She retorted, trying to sound tough, “I haven’t done anything, so go ahead and tell Nicolas and Caleb. I’ve got nothing to hide.”
Jason’s voice was full of implication. “Alicia never told me anything—I just picked up on it myself.
“Like how you’re always in touch with Nicolas’s agent, showering his wife with expensive gifts and hooking her up with influential people.
“Or when Nicolas’s assistant’s dad was in the hospital, you covered the hospital bills.
“And Caleb’s assistant? Your mom put her through college.”
Since Nicole knew Alicia and her mom were into helping people, once Mavis married into the Hammond family and had money, she started copying their charity habits.
Watching Nicole’s expression shift with every word, Jason pressed, “Should I keep listing them? Or do you want me to stop?”
Nicole’s nerves were shot the more she listened. ‘How does he know all this? Did someone snitch on me?’ she thought, panic creeping in.
“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she stammered.
She stood up, dropping the pitiful act. “I’ve got things to do, so I’ll leave you alone.”
Then she made a quick exit.
She was afraid that if she stuck around any longer, Jason might just drop some more bombshells.
She couldn’t help but feel a chill run down her spine whenever she thought about Jason now.

He knew way too much-if he ever spilled the beans to Nicolas or Caleb, she’d be in deep trouble.

Any thoughts of scheming against Jason had vanished; all Nicole wanted now was to stay as far away from him as possible.
Instead of running off, Nicole headed straight back to her place.
She nearly bumped into Alicia, who was standing by the entrance with her arms folded, watching the whole spectacle unfold.
Nicole acted like Alicia wasn’t even there and rushed straight inside.
Alicia ignored Nicole completely and walked straight over to Jason.
Jason grinned at her. “You totally nailed it. Nicole was watching me head out, then came running after me with fake tears, trying to set me up.”
Alicia knew he was doing it on purpose.
Earlier, when she stepped outside, she’d noticed two shadowy figures on the path-then watched as they quickly ducked behind the bushes.
It was too dark to see their faces, but from their build and the way they moved, it was obvious it was Caleb and Nicolas.
She smiled and continued, “Anyone who gets close to me, Nicole just has to try and steal them away.”
She joked with him, “Especially with your looks and status-there’s no way she’d ever let you go.
“If you hadn’t had that car accident and could walk like normal, Nicole probably wouldn’t be going after Nicolas-she’d be running after you instead.
“Her mom raised her with crazy high standards. If it’s not a top-tier family, she wouldn’t even consider marrying in.”
Jason chuckled. “Honestly, maybe it’s a blessing I’m stuck in this wheelchair right now. If I ever ended up with a woman like her, I’d be the one crying.”
Then he paused, as if realizing something, and added, “Actually, scratch that. I’m not blind like Nicolas and the Hammond brothers-there’s no way I’d ever fall for her act.”
Alicia nodded, grinning. “You’re way sharper than those guys, that’s for sure.”
She said. “Ugh, there are so many mosquitoes. Let’s go back inside.”
Jason said, “Yeah, let’s go.”
Then Alicia wheeled Jason back to the villa.
