Rising From Betrayal Reborn As The Family Outcast novel Chapter 141

Chapter 141

Alicia held the test report, thinking she needed to dig deeper.

This was all about the grudge from her past life. She had to get to the bottom of it.

This time, the miracle doctor had been forced out into the open, but he was still just as dangerous. She had to get her defenses ready ahead of time.

She wasn’t about to get blindsided and killed all over again.

She pulled out her phone and called Kevin.

Even though she’d wiped their numbers from her phone, her memory was so good she could still recall all their numbers by

heart.

After leaving the office, Kevin didn’t go home. He really didn’t want to deal with Nicole and her mom.

Instead, he went to stay at his own place away from the family house.

When he saw Alicia’s name pop up on his screen, his eyes instantly brightened with delight.

He didn’t waste a second picking up. “Ally!”

Alicia got straight to the point. “Hey, Kevin, does our grandpa have any secret kids?”

Kevin blinked in surprise. “Secret kids? No way, at least not that I know of.”

‘Seriously, I’ve never heard anything about that, not once all these years, he thought.

“Go ask your dad about this,” Alicia said, her tone firm. “It’s really important-don’t let him dodge the question.”

It wasn’t just about her-this was a big deal for the whole Hammond family.

Kevin could hear how serious she was. “Okay, I’ll talk to him.

“But my dad’s phone is off, so I can’t reach him right now.

“I’ll let you know once I’ve asked him.”

“Okay,” Alicia replied.

She hung up without another word.

Then Alicia dialed up Jason and laid out her suspicions.

She asked him to help find out if her grandfather had any secret kids.

When it came to legitimate heirs, Leo was the only son his mother ever had.

Leo didn’t have any brothers either-the Hammond family line was always passed down to just one son each generation

It wasn’t for lack of trying-they just couldn’t have more kids.

It wasn’t until Alicia’s mom’s generation that there were finally four children, and their grandparents were absolutely

thrilled.

They doted on her mom like she was a miracle.

So if Julian really was connected to the Hammond family, or even to Leo himself, the only real possibility was that he was her grandfather’s illegitimate son.

On top of that, Alicia was planning to set up a paternity test for Leo and Julian, just to find out if they were actually related by blood.

She already had Julian’s blood, but now she just needed to find a way to get some of Leo’s hair or blood for testing.

At least she’d made a breakthrough-she was getting closer and closer to the truth.

Alicia kept studying Julian’s blood, hoping to find the truth hidden within.

Meanwhile, Nicole and her mom arrived at the hotel where Julian was staying, just like they’d arranged.

Julian opened the door and let them in.

After Nicole and her mom finished crying and begging Julian to help them stay in the Hammond family, Julian finally looked at Mavis and spoke up.

“Are you really sure you don’t want to leave Leo Hammond?” he asked, looking her straight in the eye.

Mavis, her eyes still red from crying, said, “Yeah, I really don’t want to leave him.”

Julian said, “Then I’ll make sure he never leaves you for the rest of his life.”

Mavis looked puzzled. ‘How could I possibly make him always stay with me?’ she wondered.

Right now, her husband didn’t even want her anymore.

Julian didn’t mince words. “When I treated him, I kept a trick up my sleeve with his medicine.

“Just add one more ingredient to it and give it to him-he’ll never be able to leave you.”

Mavis was startled. “You actually tampered with his medicine?”

She pulled Nicole close, shooting Julian a guarded look. “What do you really want?

“Are you trying to use me and my daughter for something?”

She wasn’t naive-nobody does something for nothing in this world.

If this guy was offering to help them and had already tampered with her husband’s medicine, he clearly had ulterior

motives.

‘Like I’d ever let him use me and my daughter, Mavis thought, her guard up.

Julian let out a mocking laugh. “Now you’re finally acting cautious, huh.”

Mavis frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean? Do we know each other or something?”

Julian got to his feet. “Just wait here for a moment.”

With that, he walked into the bathroom.

Nicole and Mavis were left sitting there, anxious and scared out of their wits.

After about ten minutes, Julian came out of the bathroom.

And what they saw left Nicole and Mavis totally speechless.

Mavis’s eyes went wide. “Wait, you-how are you… you?!”

Nicole was just as shocked, her mind spinning. ‘Is this really the same person?’

If he hadn’t been wearing the same clothes and had the same build, she never would’ve guessed he was the miracle doctor.

His face shape hadn’t changed, but he looked nothing like he did before.

He must’ve used some trick to cover up what he really looked like.

The crucial part was, he actually bore a striking resemblance to Leo.

Julian sat down, arching his brow at Mavis with a teasing look. “Surprised you still remember me.”

Mavis’s hands were clammy with sweat. “What do you want?”

‘How could I possibly forget?’ Mavis thought, the memory hitting her all over again.

The feelings he gave her that night were so overwhelming-just seeing his face now, she couldn’t keep her composure.

And later, she unexpectedly had his daughter. There was no way she could ever forget him.

Julian leaned back, crossing his legs with a casual air. “I might not care about you, but there’s no way I can just ignore my own daughter.

“If the Hammond family wants nothing to do with you, that’s none of my concern.

“But my daughter? That’s a different story-I’d never walk away from her.”

He turned to Nicole and asked, “Do you want it all-the Hammond family’s fortune, power, everything?”

Seeing her mom’s face and hearing Julian’s words, Nicole’s mind was spinning. Then it hit her-hard. The truth was staring her in the face.

She blurted out, “Are you… my real dad?”

Julian slid a sheet of paper across the table to Nicole. “Here-this is the paternity test for us.”

Nicole grabbed it and read every word, her eyes wide with shock and excitement. “I can’t believe you’re my dad! No wonder I felt so close to you the first time we met.”

She honestly never imagined Julian would turn out to be her real father.

He was way more powerful than Leo ever was.

Julian grinned. “Honestly, I feel close to you too.”

He asked again, “Do you want everything the Hammond family has?”

‘Can I really have it just because I want it?

‘Of course I want it, Nicole thought.

Julian said, “If you want it, it’s yours. I’ll help you get it all.

“My family doesn’t let their kids stay out in the world for too long.

“So I’ll have to head back soon, and I won’t be able to leave again anytime soon.

“But I just can’t help worrying about you.

“So after thinking it over, if the whole Hammond family ends up in your hands, they’ll have to look to you for everything, and depend on you to live their lives.”

His expression grew even softer, full of fatherly warmth. “That way, when I go back, I won’t have to keep stressing about whether you’re doing okay.”

Nicole’s ambition was lit on fire.

Ever since she joined the Hammond family, she’d been walking on eggshells, always trying to please Leo and her three stepbrothers.

She also had to be extra careful dealing with all those rich heiresses, just to blend into the high society circle.

But if she could really take over everything the Hammond family had, she wouldn’t have to care about Leo or her stepbrothers anymore. Those rich girls would be tripping over themselves to suck up to her instead.

And if Alicia ever found out, she’d probably be so shocked and grossed out she’d be totally speechless.

If she ended up taking over everything the Hammond family owned, maybe even Nicolas would kick himself for ever giving up on her.

Then Julian handed Nicole and her mom an envelope.

Inside was proof of how he’d been protecting Nicole all these years.

Nicole was floored-she never realized Jett had actually been sent by her dad to watch over her.

‘No wonder he was always so nice to me, always making sure I got whatever I wanted, Nicole thought. ‘It all makes sense

now.’

After going through everything, Nicole totally believed everything her real dad said.

Even Mavis was convinced now.

So that was why he’d tampered with Leo’s medicine-it was all for his daughter.

Nicole didn’t hesitate for a second. She locked eyes with Julian, her voice unwavering. “Dad, I want everything the Hammond family has. Help me take it all.”

Julian chuckled, pride flashing in his eyes. “That’s my daughter-bold and ambitious, just the way I like it.

“Alright, I’ll make sure you both get what you want.

“But if you want Leo to transfer everything he owns to Nicole, he’ll have to take that special ingredient.”

Mavis blurted out, anxiety written all over her face, “That medicine-it won’t kill him, right?”

Julian waved off their worries. “Don’t stress, it’s nothing serious. The only thing is, he’ll get hooked on it.

“He’ll need it every day, or he won’t be able to get any sleep.”

He shot a look at Mavis. “With this, not only will he sign everything over to Nicole, but he’ll be yours for life-he won’t ever be able to walk away.

“So, what do you think? Sound like a good deal?”

Mavis couldn’t help but feel tempted.

If her daughter took over the Hammond family, that meant it was basically hers too.

The thought of her husband being totally dependent on her, never able to leave, made her almost giddy with excitement.

She honestly couldn’t stand the idea of being apart from him. All she wanted was to be together forever.

After a moment, she steeled herself and said, “If it’s for Nicole, I’ll do anything.”

Julian gave a teasing chuckle. “You really are a devoted mom.”

He added, “I’ll make it happen for you.”
