Chapter 51

After all the guests arrived, the host of Radiance: The Idol Journey, Millie Wilder, walked up to the stage in front.
“Yesterday’s team assignments are complete, and today each group needs to choose their performance song,” she announced.
“This time, the guests are required to help the trainees complete the song arrangements together. The choreography won’t have any MV guidance either, so the trainees will need to create their own dances.”
Everyone was surprised when they heard this.
They hadn’t expected that this time they’d not only have to arrange the songs, but also choreograph the dances themselves.
The difficulty just shot way up.
Felicity’s mood shifted completely when she heard that. The gloom from yesterday vanished, and excitement flickered in her eyes. She could handle both adapting songs and choreography.
Last night, as soon as she got back to her room, Haley called and chewed her out.
When she opened X, she saw that she’d lost tons of followers and people were tearing her apart in the comments. They’d even report her account, and she’d nearly had a breakdown over it.
Popularity and engagement were everything to her.
Once she got a taste of fame, she only wanted more. The last thing she wanted was to be a one-hit wonder who faded into nothing.
So she made up her mind. She had to nail the rest of the show and win back the audience.
And as for her hatred towards Alicia, Haley told her to keep it under wraps for now, so that’s what she’d do.
Nicole had also checked X yesterday and realized things weren’t going the way she’d expected. Some of her own fans had stirred things up and damaged her reputation with viewers.
‘Lucent Media must be behind this,’ she thought. “They’re coming after me.’
She’d contacted her manager right away and told him to keep an eye on Starlight Entertainment’s PR department.
If anything came up that could hurt her image, they needed to handle it immediately.
She wasn’t giving up on targeting Alicia either.
If Starlight Entertainment’s PR backed off because of Nicolas, then her manager would just hire marketing accounts and paid trolls to do it instead.
Yesterday had been way too passive. Today, she was changing her strategy.
Nicole decided to take the initiative and speak up first. She smiled and asked, “So you guys give us a few songs and we pick
the ones we want?”
That was usually how these things worked.
She’d seen people online saying she was too soft for a rich heiress, that she had no backbone.

So this time, she wasn’t going to let Felicity do all the talking.

She’d still play nice and avoid direct conflict with Alicia to maintain her image, but on this show, she needed to start showing some strength.
Millie smiled and said, “Ms. Hammond, you’re half right.”
She continued, “The production team will give you several songs, but you won’t be choosing them yourselves. The audience will vote on them.”
Nicole laughed lightly and said, “So you’re saying the audience picks one song for each group? If that’s the case, it could be interesting.”
She added, “I trust our audience and fans to make good choices.”
Her fans immediately flooded the comments with messages. [Nicole, don’t worry! We’ll pick the perfect song for your group!]
But Millie shook her head and said, “No, Ms. Hammond, you misunderstood. The audience won’t be picking one song for each group. They’ll be picking one song for all four groups.”
Everyone froze when they heard that.
Alicia caught on immediately and asked, “So the production team wants all four groups to perform the same song? Is that why each group has to arrange their own version and choreography?”
Millie nodded and said, “Ms. Delaney, you’re exactly right.”
The production team really knew how to make things exciting.
‘If we had four different songs, the comparison wouldn’t be as obvious,” Millie explained. “But with the same song, the audience can see right away which group did the best arrangement and performance.”
She continued, “This way, no one has to worry about whether their song choice puts them at a disadvantage.
‘Like if one group picks a slow ballad and another picks a high-energy dance track, the energy levels would be completely different. So after talking it over, the production team decided to have all four groups use the same song.”
She added, “Plus, seeing how different groups arrange and perform the same song is the best way to compare the trainees’ abilities.
And we’re letting the audience vote because we figured you four groups would never agree on a song anyway. Might as well let the viewers decide.”
Keeping the audience involved would boost the show’s popularity and give people more to talk about.
Sure enough, the comments were flooded with praise. [The production team nailed it.)
[This is exactly what we want.]
[So intense, I love it.]
Everyone seemed thrilled.
After all, viewers loved drama, and the bigger the spectacle, the better.

Especially when they got to be part of it.

The trainees had mixed reactions; some looked helpless, while others seemed excited, and they had to admit the production team really knew how to stir things up this time.
The production team then played five songs with completely different styles on the big screen.
Chase announced that he would open a poll on the official X account so fans could vote.
The voting window would be open for ten minutes, and whichever song got the most votes would be the one all four guest groups performed together.
Nicole smiled and asked, “Can we guests vote too?”
If they could, their choices might actually influence the fans and audience.
Out of the five songs, she was leaning toward a ballad that would be easy to adapt and wouldn’t require intense choreography.
Millie saw Chase nod, so she said, “Of course you can.”
She encouraged them further, “All the guests, please take out your phones and open X to vote. Let’s see which song you all prefer.”
The fans and audience were curious too and wanted to see which songs the four guest groups would choose first, so they could decide how to vote themselves.
The eight guests pulled out their phones and opened the official X account, and soon the voting portal went live.
Nicole and Felicity hadn’t interacted at all throughout the day, but now Nicole pointed at one of the songs and said to Felicity, “I want to vote for this one.”
Felicity actually wanted to vote for a different song, something more upbeat and powerful. Still, because of what happened yesterday and Haley’s warning, she didn’t dare offend Nicole. She forced a stiff smile and said, “Sure, I’ll vote for that one
too.”
‘It probably won’t get picked anyway, she thought.
Felicity and Nicole voted first, and then Simon and Hannah discussed it and voted for another song because they felt it would be the easiest one to arrange.
Nicolas and Maxwell didn’t really care either way.
Maxwell smiled at Alicia and asked, “Which one do you guys want to vote for?”
Nicolas turned his head toward her, too, clearly thinking the same thing.
The audience comments flooded in: [They even ask her about song choices? Are you seriously going to vote for whatever she votes for?
(Wake up, guys. Stop being so desperate, okay?!
[Maxwell, are you asking the wrong person?]
[Yeah, shouldn’t you be asking Nicole? Why are you asking Alicia?]

(Alicia, please answer him. Don’t make us beg you.]
Maxwell’s fans realized they couldn’t stop him from sucking up to her, so they just decided to join in.

Alicia stared at Maxwell with complete exasperation and said, “What we vote for is none of your business. Vote for your own choice, thanks.”
“This guy is getting more annoying by the day, she thought. “The more I tell them to keep their distance, the more they try to get closer. I never noticed before how shameless they could be.’
The comments flooded in, mocking the situation.
[See? Alicia’s totally ignoring him.]
[Maxwell never learns his lesson, does he?]
[Look at his face! He looks like a kicked puppy.]
[Wait, isn’t Maxwell supposed to be this badass with a sharp tongue in the esports world? What happened to that guy?]
[He was like that in esports, but apparently reality TV changes people.]
[Honestly, I love watching him try to get Alicia’s attention and fail every single time.]
[Same here. I’m a Maxwell fan, but I’m switching sides for now.]
Maxwell’s actual fans thought, ‘You guys aren’t real fans at all. You’re practically haters. We’re so tired right now.’
Meanwhile, Nicolas’ fans stayed quiet, silently praying, ‘Please don’t copy Maxwell. Please.
