Saintess's Worthless Husband Turned Dragon Commander novel Chapter 193

CHAPTER 148 PART 1

Marcus’s phone buzzed insistently. Miguel Abbott’s name flashed on the screen.

“She’s awake,” Miguel’s voice was cautious. “And… she’s causing a scene. You might want to get up here.”

With a resigned sigh, Marcus ended the call with Brandon Chen and his friends. “This conversation is over. I have actual problems to deal with.”

“Running away?” Brandon sneered, though he kept his distance after being thrown down once. “That’s what I thought. All talk, no-”

Marcus was already walking toward the Pearl on the Water building, not bothering to respond. Behind him, Brandon’s voice faded into irrelevance.

The penthouse suite was in chaos when Marcus arrived. Elize Yarrow stood in the center of the room, wrapped in a hotel robe, her face streaked with tears and mascara. The moment she saw Marcus, she lunged forward.

“You bastard!” she screamed, her voice cracking. “How could you? How could you do this to me?”

Marcus caught her wrists before she could strike him, his grip firm but not painful. “Do what, exactly?”

“You know what!” Elize’s entire body shook with emotion. “Last night… the bunny costume… you… we…” She couldn’t finish, dissolving into fresh sobs.

Miguel Abbott stood awkwardly by the window, clearly wishing he was anywhere else. “Boss, she woke up about twenty minutes ago and immediately started-”

“I can see what she started.” Marcus released Elize’s wrists and stepped back. “Take a breath. Think clearly. What exactly do you remember?”

“I remember drinking,” Elize choked out between sobs. “And then… and then waking up in that ridiculous outfit, and you were here, and everyone saw, and…” Her voice rose to a wail. “My reputation is destroyed! My family will disown me! And you… you took advantage when I was vulnerable!”

“Did I?” Marcus’s voice was cold as ice. “Did I actually touch you, Elize? Think carefully before you answer.”

Elize opened her mouth to respond, then hesitated. Her brow furrowed as memories slowly filtered back through the haze of alcohol and emotion. The costume. Marcus’s disgusted expression. His repeated refusals. The way he’d barely looked at her.

“You…” Her voice faltered. “You didn’t…”

“No,” Marcus confirmed flatly. “I didn’t. You got drunk, made terrible decisions, and I kept you from making even worse ones. You’re welcome, by the way.”

The tears didn’t stop, but their nature changed. Humiliation replaced accusation. Elize’s face flushed crimson as the full weight of her behavior crashed down on her.

“Then why…” she whispered. “Why didn’t you…”

Marcus’s expression turned incredulous. “Are you seriously asking me why I didn’t sleep with a drunk woman who was clearly not in her right mind? What kind of man do you think I am?”

“Most men would have-”

“I’m not most men.” Marcus’s dragon eyes held zero sympathy. “And frankly, even if you’d been sober and willing, the answer would still be no. I have a wife. A real relationship. You were just a tool to humiliate Atlas

Lancaster, nothing more.”

The words landed like physical blows. Elize staggered back, her hand pressed to her mouth. “A tool? That’s all I was to you?”

“What did you expect?” Marcus’s voice was brutally honest. “We barely know each other. You threw yourself at me to rebel against your family, and I used that to hurt my enemy. That’s the extent of our relationship.”

“But I…” Elize’s voice broke. “I thought maybe…”

“You thought wrong.” Marcus turned toward the door. “Get dressed. Go home. Stay away from me. And for God’s sake, grow up.”

“You can’t just—”

Marcus whirled back, his dragon aura flaring enough to make Elize stumble. “Yes, I can. You want to know the truth? You’re annoying. Your drama, your tears, your desperate need for validation-it’s exhausting. I have real enemies trying to kill me. The Lancaster family wants my head. Shadow Warriors are hunting me across the province. And you’re crying because the man you met yesterday doesn’t want to date you?”

Each word was a dagger. Elize’s face crumpled, but Marcus didn’t stop.
