Scarlett
Chapter 126
Scarlett’s POV
I froze in Keith’s arms, my entire body going rigid as my eyes locked onto the man who had singlehandedly destroyed everything I once held dear. He stood across the room, laughing casually with his friends, ablivious to the way his mere presence churned up a storm inside me.
Keith must have sensed my change in mood. He leaned down, his breath warm against my ear.
“What is the matter, darling?” His voice was gentle, filled with concern, and the tenderness of it almost undid me. I blinked, fighting the sting of angry tears, my throat tightening as memories flooded back–memories of the life I had been forced to leave, the home I’d lost, and the mates who had once
promised to protect me.
Gregory Olsen had taken everything from me. Before he entered my life, things had been… bearable. I had a place, a sense of stability, even love. But that man had twisted everything, pulled the rug from under me, and left me with nothing but betrayal and pain. Yes, my mates had failed me in the end, but it was Gregory who had planted the seed of my ruin.
I forced myself to keep dancing, letting Keith’s arms pull me closer. I leaned my head against his chest, focusing on the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. It was an anchor, something to keep me from spiralling into the anger and sorrow that threatened to swallow me. Keith’s embrace was a refuge, his presence calming grounding.
He tightened his hold on me as we moved in time with the soft music, his hand a reassuring weight on my back.
“What is the matter, Scarlett?” he asked again, his voice low and comforting. This time, I couldn’t keep it inside.
“Remember the man I told you about? The merchant from the West who set me up, who tore my life apart and left me with nothing but a tarnished name?”
word. I whispered, trying to steady my voice, but the anger simmered beneath each
He nodded. “Yes.”
I glanced in Gregory’s direction, anger fueling my gaze. “He’s right there, in the blue suit with the red polka–dot pocket handkerchief,” I murmured, motioning subtly with my head. Keith turned, his expression sharpening as he followed my gaze, and we danced a few steps closer to Gregory.
“I see him,” Keith said, his tone edged with disdain. “But that man’s name isn’t Gregory Olsen. It’s Geoffrey Olsen. How Lucian could be so careless allow a stranger into his domain without knowing who he truly was… it’s beyond me. I’m sorry, Scarlett, but your mates were fools.”

Sut “No need to apologize, Keith,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “It was for the best. They’ve likely moved on by now. They never wanted anything to do with my father’s legacy anyway. This… this is how it should be. And I’m grateful I came here and found you.” The words came out honest and unguarded, and Keith’s low, protective growl resonated in response.
“I hope you truly mean that, Scarlett, because it means you’re healing,” he murmured, his voice thick with conviction. “I don’t plan on sharing you, and t have no intention of letting you go. That’s why I’m being patient,” I rested my head against his chest, letting his words settle over me. He was here to stay, he wasn’t wavering or hesitating. He wanted me, all of me.
The music slowed and then faded, signalling the end of our dance, but Keith’s hand didn’t leave mine as he led me directly toward Geoffrey Olsen and his
his face went pale, his confident posture faltering. I held his gaze, steady and unyielding, group of friends. The moment Geoffrey’s eyes landed on me, letting him feel the weight of my stare.
“Luna,” he stammered, his eyes darting over my shoulder as if searching for someone, “W–Where are your mates?” His voice carried a nervous, mocking edge, as if he were trying to put on a show for his friends. But his bravado cracked beneath the tension.

Chapter 126
Keith epped in; his presence an undeniable force. Clearing his throat, he glared down at Geoffrey. “Did you go to the North to cause trouble?” he asked, his tume calm but menacing, a challenge issued right in front of Geoffrey’s merchant friends.
“It was… it was a misunderstanding Geoffrey stuttered, his voice barely hiding his panic. “A joke, really. The Valkin Alphas took it too personally.” He shrugged as though he could brush sway the lives he’d disrupted with a few careless words and his actions.
Keith’s eyes narrowed. “So you decided it was acceptable to smear the Luna’s reputation, incite ties, and then come home as if nothing happened?” Keith’s voice was cold, each word sinking into Geoffrey with razor–sharp precision. “Did you think of the consequences? What if the Alphas had retaliated? This isn’t a game. People like you start wars.”
The confidence drained from Geoffrey’s face. He shifted uncomfortably, his eyes darting around as if hoping for an escape. “1… I’m sorry, Luna,” he muttered, his voice barely audible, almost lost beneath the weight of the truth he couldn’t hide.
But his apology only fueled my anger. My hands curled into fists, my knuckles cracking under the tension. My heart hammered as the memories flooded back -the shame, the betrayal, the lies. This man had humiliated me, robbed me of my honour, left me to face a trial based on his lies and manipulation. I had been banished, branded with his deception.
“You destroyed my life,” I whispered, my voice trembling with rage. “You took my reputation and twisted it, dragged my name through the mud. You made people who already hated me believe the worst, pushed them to lie and condemn me. I was banished because of you.” My voice broke as the memories clawed their way back, leaving a raw ache in my chest. Tears spilled down my cheeks as the emotions I’d kept buried surged forward, uncontainable.
Geoffrey’s eyes widened, and he took a small step back, clearly unnerved by the force of my pain. I could feel the intensity of my emotions radiating, my body trembling with the urge to lash out. The crowd shifted, moving back in response, sensing the depth of my fury. My nails bit into my palms, but I barely registered the pain.
