Chapter 154
The guys exchanged looks at my panic. Knox gripped my hand. “Ridge has her. She’s regaining consciousness now.”
More tears came then. She was okay. She’d get to go home. We both would.
I burrowed my face into Anson’s neck, breathing him in. The scents of all my mates filled my senses. We were here. Alive, together.
Mason’s head lifted as Mac approached. A grimace lined the head enforcer’s face. “We lost Kaleb in the tunnels.”
Mason’s eyes glowed with anger. “How?”
“The place was booby–trapped. We almost lost two enforcers.” He shook his head in frustration. “I’m sorry, Alpha. We have no idea where he could’ve gone.”
I wrapped one arm around Rezah in a hug, careful not to tug on my stitches. “Thank you for everything.”
She squeezed me gently. “It’s me who should be thanking you. I can’t believe you got us out.”
“We got out together.”
Rezah sniffed as she let me go and wiped away a stray tear. “I just wish I had been the one to gut Garrison.”
“The sight was pretty damn poetic.”
One side of her mouth kicked up. “I hope he suffered.”
“Not enough,” Anson muttered, pulling me back against his chest.
Mason crossed to us, two enforcers in tow. “Rezah, I just spoke with your alpha. He’s so relieved you’re safe.”
“Can I go home now?”
There was such hope in Rezah’s voice, it broke my heart.
Mason gave her a warm smile. “Yes. I’m going to have two of my enforcers, Lexi and Jason, drive you. You’ll be safe with them.”
Rezah sent a cautious look in the enforcers‘ direction. Lexi beamed at her. “How do you feel about country music? Jason hates it. I was thinking we could annoy him with it the whole way.”
Rezah’s lips twitched. “I like country.”
Jason moaned. “Seriously, Lex? Why are you the worst?”

Lexi held out her hand to Rezah for a high five. “This is going to be fun.”
“You have my number,” I told Rezah. “Text me.”
“You know it. And maybe you can come to Michigan for a visit.”
“I’d love that.”
Anson held me a little bit tighter at those words, and I knew it would be some time before the guys would be comfortable with me traveling anywhere.
Lexi and Jason guided Rezah towards an SUV. I bit my lip as she disappeared inside. “She’ll be okay, right?”
“She’ll be fine,” Anson assured me.
Mason nodded. “Jason will call as soon as they’ve arrived.”
Still, my stomach twisted. I had no idea how many people Kaleb had working for him. Or how quickly he could recover from this kind of blow to his operation.
“Still no sign of Kaleb?”
Mason shook his head as the rest of the guys approached. “We’ve got teams out looking for the end of the tunnel system but so far, nothing.”
Knox had a dark look on his face. “None of the guards we captured are talking. But most of the shifters working with
Kaleb tucked tail and ran.”
Vaughn flexed his fingers. “We could get creative on how we get them to talk.”
“No.” The word was out before I even realized it. “We can’t stoop to their level. We aren’t torturers.”
Vaughn’s ice–blue eyes darkened to a shade I’d never seen before as he shared a look with his brother. None of them had pushed to know what had happened to me in the week that I’d been missing, but I’d just let a little too much slip.
River moved in, brushing his lips across mine. His warmth seeped into me even with only the barest of touches. “Let’s get you home. We can figure out the rest later.”
Home. There was nothing I wanted more.
Mason stiffened and Knox was instantly on alert. “What’s wrong?”
“Coby and Jaz just dropped out of the pack link.”
Caspian straightened, slipping his phone from his pocket to check camera feeds. “Anyone else?”
“No one,” Mason answered.

Caspian swept through different camera angles on his phone. “I don’t see any signs of attack.”
I gripped Anson’s arms as he held me tightly. He dipped his head to take in my face. “What’s wrong, Sen?”
My stomach roiled. “It was Jaz.”
“What was?” Knox asked.
“She drugged me. I don’t know how she got me to Kaleb, but she’s the reason I was taken.”
Everyone froze.
“What. Did. You. Say?” The fury coming off Knox was a living, breathing thing.
River turned, gripping Knox’s shoulders. “Dial it back a notch.”
“Dial it back? Did you hear her? One of our pack betrayed her!”
I winced at each word.
River shoved Knox hard. “Get it together. You aren’t helping
His chest heaved as he turned on his heel and stalked off
An ache spread inside me. River must have felt it instantly because he turned back to me, framing my face with his hands. “He just needs a minute to get himself under control.
“I know.” But I didn’t like the sensation of Knox walking away. It hurt too much.
Caspian moved in close, brushing his lips over my hair. “He blames himself for not watching her more closely.”
“It’s not his fault,” I argued.
