Knox snorted.
Vaughn crossed to the bed, now in a pair of sweats. Instead of going to the end of the mattress, he lowered himself to the spot next to me. He lifted a towel and wrapped it around my head. “He was right about you catching a cold.”
My breath hitched as Vaughn tucked one end of the fabric in to hold everything in place. “I thought shifters didn’t get sick.”
Caspian crawled into bed on the other side of me. “We don’t get cancer or diseases like that, but we can get infections or things like pneumonia.”
So much for being invincible.”
The rest of the guys climbed into bed, arranging themselves around me. Tonight, it was Anson I was tied to in an effort to all stay connected and fight off the Ireams.
lifted my gaze to Vaughn’s. “I’m glad you’re here.” The first time he’d properly joined us in bed. Something about it made everything feel right with the world.
Me too.” He pressed a soft kiss to my lips. “Love you.”

Caleb’s angry stare greeted me. “You think you can escape me? That you can just go on about your pathetic little life?”
scrambled up from the cot. I was back in that awful place. The one I swore I’d never return to.
Caleb was in the cell with me now, his hands clenched at his sides. He wasn’t quite as put together as he normally was. His shirt was misbuttoned and his hair vas disheveled. But nothing about that dulled the rage simmering in his eyes.
swallowed hard. The guys would wake me up. As soon as they realized what was happening, I’d be out of here.
Nothing to say for yourself?” Kaleb prodded.
If my life is so pathetic, then you should have no problem leaving me alone.”
ne of Kaleb’s knuckles made an audible crack. “You’re my daughter. You will live up to your capabilities instead of squandering them with mates who aren’t

Kaleb’s eyes shifted the slightest amount. There was something there. Something we didn’t know about.
“What do you want from me?”
A muscle along his jaw ticked wildly. “You’re my daughter. You’re meant to rule at my side.”
“Your idea of father–daughter bonding is a friendly torture session, so I doubt that’s it.”
Kaleb grinned at me, but it was all teeth. “We can do another round of that if you’d like.”
“I think I’ll pass, Daddio.”
He scoffed. “Fine. You’re right. I’d rather kill you and be done with it.”
