Chapter 60
Riverturned in his seat. “I’ve never wanted anything more. You’re a gift. More amazing than I ever thought possible.”
“You understand me better than anyone ever has,” Anson added. “And this is just the beginning.”
Caspian’s hand wrapped around my thigh. “There’s a connection with you I’ve never experienced before. But Anson’s right. We’re just getting started. It’ll take time to figure out our dynamics. But don’t doubt for a single second that we want you.”
My eyes lifted to Knox’s dark blue ones. “And what do you want?”
“You.” His words were guttural, almost as if they were ripped from his throat. He framed my face with his hands, moving in so that our lips were so close, I could almost feel them. “I’ve never wanted anyone as much as I want you.”
His lips brushed against mine, the barest of touches. Heat flooded me. Nerve endings I hadn’t known existed sparked to life. On a growl, Knox deepened the kiss, his tongue tangling with mine. Heat grew low in my belly. I wanted more, to lose myself in him and never come up for air.
Someone coughed and I blinked a few times as Knox pulled back, his stare hooded. Caspian hadn’t released my leg, and I could feel the eyes of everyone on me. My face heated. I was expecting to see jealousy or anger when I looked at the other guys. Instead, I saw smug smiles.
I buried
my face in my hands. “This is too weird.”
Riverchuckled. “Don’t worry. You’ll get used to it.”
Caspian swept his thumb back and forth across my thigh. “That was hot.”
“Caspian!” His name came out on a half–laugh, half–shriek
He shrugged. “What? It’s true.”
“He has a point, Ro,” Anson said as he pulled back onto the road. “Thought you were going to light up right there.”
Knox wore a self–satisfied smile as he leaned back in his seat.
I glared at him. “You don’t have to look so smug.”
He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to my forehead. “Not smug, content. Never thought I’d feel this at peace after everything we’ve been through today.”
His words had a flicker of dread trickling through me. “Do you know who that wolf was?”
Caspian’s hold on my leg tightened as the gate to the compound opened. “No. We’ve never seen him before.”
“His scent wasn’t familiar either,” Knox added.
“So he could come back?” I asked.

Chapter 60
Knox moved in closer. “Don’t worry. You’ll be safe. You’ll have at least two of us with you at all times outside of school.”
“But no more going off into the woods behind your house,” Riversaid, turning in his seat to pin me with a stare.
“Trust me, I have no desire to do that anytime soon.” But I would need alone time. I wanted it right now. Time to process the events of the past twenty–four hours and to try to wrap my head around an entirely new existence.
Riverreached back and placed a hand on my knee. “Take a deep breath. You’ve got this.”
I wished I could muster up a little of Lucas‘ certainty.
Anson pulled to a stop in front of the lodge. He didn’t even get his SUV into park before Mason was charging down the front steps, Coby and Sam flanking him. “Is she all right?”
Knox climbed out of the SUV, and I reluctantly followed, even though the energy coming off Mason in waves had me wanting to hide in the trunk. “I told you she was fine, Dad.”
Mason’s eyes narrowed on his son. “Remember who is in charge here.”
Knox’s head lowered. “Sorry, sir.”
Mason nodded and turned his focus to me. “You weren’t hurt?”
I swallowed as Caspian took my hand in his, and Anson and Riverappeared at our backs. “Just a little bump on the head.”
Mason’s jaw worked back and forth. “This never should’ve happened.”
