Chapter 59
“I’m not powerful, Knox. I’m barely holding it together.”
Riverand Caspian took a seat on my other side, Lucas‘ hand slipping into mine. “You’re more powerful than you know. The wolves around you can sense it. I have a feeling it’s why that wolf attacked today. He wanted to take you for his own.”
“Take me?” I squeaked. “What does that even mean?”
Anson’s grip on my shoulders tightened. “It means that we’ll stick to your side for the foreseeable future.”
My head was starting to spin. “Can we go back to the beginning? You think I’m a wolf shifter and your mate.”
“We know it, Ro,” Knox said as he squeezed my hand. “Look at me. Can you honestly tell me that you don’t feel it too? That there’s not a tug in your chest when you’re not around one of us for a while?”
“H–how did you know that?”
“Because we feel it too,” Knox explained.
“Only ten times worse,” Caspian muttered.
“Worse? Why didn’t you tell me?” I hated the idea of any of them in pain. Even Vaughn, despite his asshole–ish tendencies.
Rivertraced a design on my palm. “You needed time. You’ve had so many changes to your life lately, and this is another huge
one.”
I sucked in a shuddering breath. He had a point. And if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I would’ve thought they were all crazy. “So my birth parents had to be wolf shifters?”
Anson toyed with a strand of my hair. “Only one needed to be. My birth father is a shifter, but my mom is fully human.”
“Do you know who my parents are?” I asked, my gaze sweeping around the group.
Knox shook his head. “We don’t. There are packs all over the world. Do you know where you were born?”
“No, just that it was a closed adoption.” I’d never asked many questions about it because I hadn’t wanted to hurt my parents. Now, I had a feeling they wouldn’t give me the answers even if I did ask.
Knox squeezed my hand. “We’ll talk to my dad about tracing your bloodline.”
My stomach twisted. Was I ready for that?
Rivermust’ve sensed my panic because he gave my other hand a tug. “There’s no rush with that. You have all the time in the world.”
“Thanks,” I whispered. “This is a lot.”

Chapter 59
“You know, Cass would be happy to talk to you if you have questions that you don’t want to ask us.” Knox’s cheeks reddened as he spoke.
“How long has she known she had three mates?” I was curious how it worked for the wolves who had grown up in this life.
Caspian shifted on the couch, turning to face me. “It wasn’t long after she moved here. She started feeling a pull, and when she touched Ridge, Jack, and Cooper, they all knew.”
“But how did she know it was three? Couldn’t it have been more?”
The guys shifted nervously.
“What?”
Knox cleared his throat. “When the first bond forms, the female gets a mark somewhere on her body. It denotes the number of
mates she is destined for. But it’s rare to have more than three.”
“Who else in your pack has five?”
“No one,” Riveranswered.
Knox sat up, releasing my hand. “There’s only been one bond of five before. I’ve never heard of a bond of six. Ever.”
I wound the tails of my bracelets tighter around my finger. I’ve never heard of a bond of six. Ever. Knox’s words echoed in my mind as we drove towards the compound.
Knox laid a hand over mine, stilling my movements. “Everything’s going to be okay. I promise.”
I threaded my fingers through his. “You don’t know that.”
