Chapter 65
“Oh, right, Sir Winchester’s lecture.” Olivia pulled out the ticket and showed it to Susan. “Thank you for helping me today, Madam Ferrer. The lecture is about to start. I have to get upstairs.”
“Good girl. Go on,” Susan said warmly.
With her backpack bouncing on her shoulders, Olivia ran off quickly.
Susan immediately took out her phone and called her son, Bradley.
“Bradley, I ran into Calista’s daughter today. The girl likes chess. She’s going to Sir Winchester’s lecture. Write that down, will you?”
There was silence on the other end for a long moment, as if he truly were taking notes.
“She was alone?” Bradley finally asked.
“Yes. If I hadn’t shown up in time, who knows how badly she would’ve been bullied. The Frost family really is 15:37

shameless,” Susan said, still irritated.
“You’re right,” Bradley replied.
“Then hurry up and do something about it. I can’t wait to get a grandchild.”
Bradley remained silent.

The lecture ended at eight thirty.
When Calista picked Olivia up, she immediately noticed faint creases on her eyelids.
Olivia’s eyelids always creased when she cried.
Calista had raised her from infancy, so she could spot it at
a glance.
“Olivia, didn’t you enjoy the lecture?” Calista asked gently. “Did you cry?”
“The lecture was amazing. Sir Winchester explained everything so clearly,” Olivia said, then hesitated. “It’s 5:37

just that before it started, I ran into Aunt Alice.”
She told Calista what had happened.
Calista kept one hand on the steering wheel and used the other to rub Olivia’s cheek.
“Just ignore her. She only bullies people when she has backing. Her own family is a mess, and she can’t even clean that up.”
“Madam Ferrer already talked to me, Mom. I’m fine now,” Olivia said quietly.
Calista said, “That’s good. It’s always hard to help
someone in need. We’ll find a chance to thank Madam Ferrer properly.”
“Okay,” Olivia said.

Killian stayed in the hospital for three days.
Austin visited once in the middle of it. He sat for a short while, still expecting people to serve him.

Killian sent him away immediately.
The rest of the time, Nicole insisted on handling everything herself. Even when Edward or a hired caregiver arrived, she looked eager to chase them out.
Killian felt both helpless and moved.
Nicole wasn’t as meticulous as Calista, but her intentions
were sincere.
And sincerity, he had to admit, was rare.
“Nicole, when we get back, I’ll give you two days off,” Killian said. “Get some rest.”
“Sure,” Nicole replied brightly. “Then I’ll stay in your office all day. I won’t leave.” She blinked playfully, clingy
as ever.
Killian smiled with resignation. “No need. You’ve
taken care of me all day long. I really should thank you properly.”
“Really?” Nicole leaned closer, her large eyes blinking. “If

you want to thank me, take me to your alma mater. I’ve never been to Columbia University.”
Killian paused. Columbia held too many memories and regrets for him. It wasn’t a place he could return to casually.
Buying Nicole gifts would be far simpler.
After a moment of silence, he said evenly, “The company has been busy, and I just got discharged. I’ll take you
there when I’m free.”
It wasn’t the answer she wanted, but she knew her limits.
Nicole nodded with a sweet, coaxing tone. “Fine. But you have to remember. You owe me a proper thank you.”
After Killian returned to the company and dealt with a mountain of work, he finally had a brief window of time.
