Second Chance His Unending Love (Calista Hartwell) novel Chapter 70

Chapter 70

Calista didn’t want to waste her breath on him.

Explaining wouldn’t make any difference anyway. “Think whatever you want.”

She grabbed Evander’s hand to leave, and he went along with it willingly, letting her pull him wherever she

wanted.

Killian’s sharp features hardened, every line of his face turning cold. His gaze fell on her fingers wrapped around Evander’s wrist, and his eyes blazed like he wanted to cut through their connection with a knife.

“You found yourself a replacement before we’re even divorced. Hey buddy, you know you’re wrecking someone else’s home, right? You’re nothing but a homewrecker.”

Evander raised an eyebrow slightly. Calista closed her eyes. Killian always knew exactly how to piss people off with just one sentence.

She stopped walking and looked directly at Killian. “You’re almost 50 years old. Can you act like it? We’re already divorced. Who I’m with now and what I do has:39

nothing to do with you.”

“Whether it has anything to do with me isn’t for you to decide.”

Killian sneered, “Don’t forget, even if we’re divorced, you’re still the mother of two kids. What are they gonna think when they find out what you’re doing?”

Calista shook her head, at a loss for words. “You were the one who said you didn’t want anything to do with me when we signed the papers. So what are you doing here today? Killian, we’re divorced. Be decent and stop showing up out of nowhere.”

Calista didn’t want to explain anything to him anymore. Even if something was going on between her and Evander now, it was completely legitimate and reasonable.

Besides, she was just walking Evander downstairs out of politeness tonight.

“Let’s go.” Calista grabbed Evander’s hand again.

Evander looked down at her fingers wrapped around his wrist, his eyes filled with endless tenderness and affection. He wished she would hold his hand like this5:39

forever.

“Calista!” Left behind, Killian felt suffocated with anger. He pulled an elegant box from his suit pocket. Inside was the pink-blue diamond he’d spent 30 million dollars on tonight.

He hadn’t won the vase, so he still owed Calista

something. He thought giving her this pink-blue diamond would make up for it and fulfill his earlier promise.

But he’d swallowed his pride to come find her, and she was meeting up with another man!

And she’d left him behind for this guy.

Fury burned in Killian’s chest, and in his rage, he hurled the box violently. Whether intentionally or not, the box flew straight toward Calista, the trajectory aimed right at the back of her head!

By the time Killian realized this, it was too late.

At that dangerous moment, a tall figure suddenly appeared and blocked the blow for Calista! The hard,

leather box struck Evander precisely at his temple

Evander winced in pain, his brows furrowing quickly as he let out a low cry. “Ow, that hurts!”

Only then did Calista turn around. She hadn’t realized

the danger at all, but now, seeing blood seeping from Evander’s forehead, she understood what had happened. “Evander, are you okay?”

Evander swayed slightly. “Am I bleeding?”

Calista quickly steadied him, her eyes full of concern. “Yeah, you’re bleeding. It’s pretty bad.”

Evander leaned into her smoothly, a slight smile tugging at his lips with satisfaction.

Good, he was bleeding. He’d been worried there wouldn’t be any blood. He didn’t care about himself and only worried about Calista. “Are you hurt?”

Calista’s brows furrowed deeply as she said anxiously, “I’m fine, I’m completely fine. Come back to my place first, I need to check your wound.”

“It’s pretty late though…”
