Sean only released Angeline when she almost ran out of air. He observed her as she gasped to catch her breath.
Her lashes were speckled with tiny droplets of tears that glittered under the lights. She gave out an adorable and childlike look as her eyes were clouded from the lack of oxygen.
Sean's breathing got increasingly labored than when he released Angeline.
He asked in a voice so deep it was almost a rasp, "Are you agreeing to continue our marriage, then?"
Just the kiss alone had drained Angeline of her energy. She nodded weakly.
"But for the time being… I don't wish to let others know about us.
"I'm afraid Mr. Lawson Senior might find out, and I haven't thought of a way to tell him about this. I'm not ready to let other people know, either. Is that alright?"
Robert was already infuriated with Sean for leaving the Lawson family. If he discovered that Sean was seeing Angeline, he'd probably blow his top.
Angeline was even more worried that Robert might link the two matters together and grow to despise her. Although they were blood-related, Angeline knew that Robert shared a much stronger bond with Sean than with her. After all, he saw Sean as his heir and had raised him as such.
Now that there was finally some progress in her relationship with Robert and Jessica, she didn't want to ruin the familial bond she went through great means to obtain.
Sean knew of her concerns. He knew her well and understood how much she yearned for family.
In the past, he had made it known to the public that Angeline's birth mother was related to their family to justify his actions of looking after Angeline. He knew that it would make outsiders view him as Angeline's family.
So, he was aware of how much rumors and gossip Angeline, Yasmine, and Xavier would have to endure once he announced that he and Angeline were together.
It made perfect sense for her to be worried about the psychological strain the public's opinion and gossip would put on the children.
Angeline's statement about Sean being someone who was in control of his emotions was true.
However, the men around her always seemed to bring out the worst in him. It frustrated him and gave him murderous intent. Even women who were being too intimate with her annoyed him.
"I want to keep you chained to me so that I'm the only one who can see you, hug you, kiss you, and claim you as mine whenever I wish," Sean muttered as he showered kisses on Angeline's lips.
She felt a tingling sensation from head to toe from the vibrations of his deep and husky voice.
Sean wasn't sure if his frankness would scare Angeline off. Still, he needed her to know.
The suffocating intensity of his feelings was enough to give her thoughts of escaping.
This was the beast that Sean had kept hidden away in the depths of his heart. He was now baring himself to her so that she could see what he was truly like.
