"Even… Yasmine and Xavier?"
There was a slight tremble in Angeline's voice. Perhaps it was because her breath was still in disarray as she had yet to catch her breath from before.
Images of the two adorable children popped up in Sean's mind. He thought of the bright smile on Yasmine's face and how Xavier would make a face whenever he saw Sean.
"I'm not so deranged to be jealous over my kids."
"Got it."
A hint of a smile almost reached Angeline's eyes when she heard Sean.
Then, she gave him a light nudge and said, "You should head out first. I'll come out when I'm done changing."
Sean planted another kiss on Angeline's lips, unwilling to part from her. After releasing his hold on her, he picked his glasses off the table and left the changing room.
He stepped onto the balcony next to the changing room and put on his glasses before lighting a cigarette. He needed something to keep his mouth occupied to combat the urge to pull Angeline over and kiss her senselessly.
When his phone vibrated, Sean pulled it out to look at the caller ID. It was a call from Brayden. All the lust in his eyes instantly dispersed.
"Spill," he said with a frown.
Meanwhile, with her heart still racing, Angeline was finally done changing her clothes. She had just picked up her phone to check the time when a call from Robert came in. Only then did the rush of adrenaline in her bloodstream subsided, and she quickly calmed down.
She cleared her throat and answered the call.
"Hello, Mr. Lawson Senior."
"You should start calling me Granddad," Robert said when he heard how Angeline addressed him.
"It will be announced tomorrow that you're Jessica's adopted daughter."
Angeline clenched her fist as a warm and fuzzy feeling spread in her heart.
After ending the call, she said to Sean, who had snuffed out his cigarette and came back in, "Granddad said that you're to come pick me up tomorrow and send me to the hotel where the banquet is to be held."
Robert's birthday banquet would be held at Regalia-Majestic, a luxurious five-star hotel run by Lawson Global. It wasn't too far away from where Angeline lived.
"Granddad?"
Sean knew who Angeline was referring to.
"Robert finally got you to address him as Granddad?"
Angeline nodded, her eyes bright.
Sean tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.
"I'll send you back first. I have some matters to take care of, so I won't be able to join you for lunch. I'll see you tonight."
