Angeline wasn't like Zachary. She wouldn't see Robert as someone who harbored ill intentions.
Zachary panicked at once, his Adam's apple bobbed. "Angeline…"
"Don't worry. We were once friends, so I won't think of anything else beyond that. I just don't want Grandpa to worry about my future." Angeline gave a faint smile. "Besides, if I were to have anything to do with you, my children's dad is going to be unhappy about it."
Sean was exceptionally possessive, and she had a deep realization of that whenever they were together.
"Your children's… dad?" Zachary realized something immediately. "Mrs. Fletcher said that she bumped into you and that you were with a little girl. I thought that the child's dad was…"
"Ned?" Angeline laughed, shaking her head. "It's not him."
"Congratulations!" Zachary was relieved. "I almost wanted to ask you to consider me when you mentioned it just now. I want to give you my blessing if you're happy."
"Thank you!" Angeline raised her glass.
She was very happy right now. She was so delighted that she felt as if she were in a dream.
Robert had limped over to the main table on his walking stick. Asher had also walked toward Angeline and nodded at Zachary to greet him. Smiling, he said, "Ms. Angeline, Mr. Lawson Senior would like you to go over there. In a moment, he'll officially introduce you to everyone."
Angeline put her glass down and said to Zachary, "I'll get going…"
Zachary nodded and watched her walk over to Robert. He immediately left the banquet hall to make a call to stop Sherryn from coming.
