Jessica was Robert's only child, so he'd had high hopes for her. He'd arranged for her to attend various courses and classes since she was a child. Though he'd given Jessica all his love, he'd also pressured her.
If not for that, Rowan wouldn't have successfully taken Jessica away by luring her out with the prospect of sneaking away for some fun.
Robert swore he wouldn't repeat his mistakes with Xavier and Yasmine. His only wish was for them to grow up happily and healthily.
Angeline helped Robert upstairs. After that, having heard from Sandy that Jessica was already resting after taking some sleeping pills, she kept her footfalls light as she headed to the third floor. She pushed Jessica's door open to check on her.
The nightlight's dim glow was just about enough for Angeline to see Jessica sleeping soundly. She teared up a little as she quietly shut the door.
Sandy smiled when she saw this. "I knew you'd be here. Don't worry—Jessica's been doing well recently. Now that you, Xavier, and Yasmine are here for her, she'll only get better in the future."
Sandy had watched Jessica grow up. To her, Angeline was a younger version of Jessica. How could she not love and dote on her?
She handed the pajamas she'd prepared to Angeline and said with a smile, "I've already drawn you a bath. Jessica picked these out for you herself. I've already washed them, so you can go ahead and wear them. She, Xavier, and Yasmine even picked out your daily necessities together."
"Thank you," Angeline replied.
Sandy's smile widened when she saw how Angeline seemed to love the pajamas. "I'll let you in on a secret—Mr. Lawson Senior may not say it, but he hopes you'll move in here. The incident with the rope was only an accident; Jessica adores you.

…
Angeline's room at the old Lawson residence was beside Sean's. Xavier and Yasmine had already had their baths and were in their pajamas. They sat on the fluffy carpet in Angeline's room as they played cards with Sean.
Sean's phone vibrated. When he saw it was a call from Brayden, he put down his cards and walked to the window. He answered the call. "Hello?"
"We've found evidence, Shane." Brayden sounded grim. "Kim wasn't lying, but the evidence isn't complete. What should we do now? Do we hand it over to the police or keep it for now?"
Sean replied, "Keep it for now."
