Second Marriage to Mr. Rich (Ned Fletcher) novel Chapter 308

Even to this day, whenever Sean shut his eyes, he would still be haunted by the sight of his parents doing everything in their power to save him. He couldn't set aside the torment they'd suffered and his plan for vengeance.

"I understand." Robert sighed again. "As a father, I want you to know that my biggest wish is for my children to live good lives. I wouldn't want them to be tortured by their hatred."

Before this, he'd never understood why Sean insisted on leaving the Lawson family. But now that Sean had come clean about his true identity and the burden he shouldered, Robert understood.

Sean was about to embark on his path of vengeance but didn't want to implicate the Lawson family. That was why he wanted to orchestrate an accident to wipe Sean Lawson off the face of this earth. It was also to ensure Lawson Global was returned to the Lawson family in one piece.

"I have my reasons for doing this. On one hand, I don't want to drag the Lawson family down with me. On the other hand, my disappearance is the only way to ensure Angie can take complete control of Lawson Global.

"Doing things any differently will only cause two factions to form within the company. It won't be beneficial to the company's unity," Sean explained.

Robert placed a hand on the desk and lowered his head. He sighed but didn't know what to say to make Sean change his mind.

Just then, someone knocked on the door. Robert looked up at that. "Come in."

Angeline came in with some freshly baked cupcakes. When she saw that Robert had placed Eddie's masterpiece—the one she'd gifted to him—in pride of place on his shelf of antiques, her smile widened.

She said, "Xavier and Yasmine said they prepared the batter for these cupcakes with Mom this morning. They were waiting to bake these for you, but Mom got tired, so the batter was left in the fridge. They helped me bake these earlier but were already asleep by the time the cupcakes were done."

The cupcakes were the perfect size and had been decorated beautifully. They looked delicious. Angeline continued, "They wanted me to remind you that they deliberately made them so small so that you could down one with one bite."
