Helen hung up without waiting for Ned's response.
On the other end, Ned listened to the phone's hang-up tone and finally hung up after a moment's pause.
Trevor looked at him.
"Was that from Vitality Biotech?"
"Has Vitality Biotech told us when Mr. Reilly will return our call?"
Ned looked up at his assistant.
"Mr. Reilly's assistant said that he went to Lawson Global to discuss a project this afternoon, and he'll call us back when he's done," Trevor said.
Ned's fists clenched, and he pressed his thin lips together tightly.
He wondered if it was indeed Angeline.
"Stop waiting around!"
Ned picked up his phone and stood up.
"Vitality messaged us and said that it would be an online meeting. Other than that, we'll have to prepare for the worst!"
The worst outcome would be having to pay Vitality Biotech another 30 billion, as stipulated in the contract.
Fletcher Corporation didn't have that kind of money. They would have no choice but to declare bankruptcy.
Vitality Biotech had moved very quickly. When they sued Fletcher Corporation, they had also applied for property preservation. Now, Fletcher Corporation's assets were all frozen, and none of their projects could progress.
"Where are you going, Mr. Fletcher?" Trevor asked when he saw Ned pick up his suit jacket and walk out.
There was nothing wrong with the list that the casino had given. Instead, the prescription had been sold by one of the companies on the list, and the company owner had taken the money and escaped abroad ages ago. He could no longer be found, and suing him would be meaningless.
"Don't worry about this. Just focus on shooting your movie. I won't be able to visit you according to our agreement," Ned said as he pinched his brow.
He had entered into a two-month agreement with Ingrid. She had asked that within these two months, Ned had to treat her the same way as he had before. She would agree to call off the engagement if he still refused to change after that time.
"Ned, I heard something. Angie… She's the granddaughter of Lawson Global's chairman, Mr. Lawson Senior. She's now the executive vice president of Lawson Global," Ingrid said.
"What do you mean by that?"
Ned's voice grew deeper.
He was feeling sensitive after Helen told him about Angeline plotting against him.
"What do I mean? I don't want you and Angie to interact with each other, but… if Angie can help you, I think you should try to reach out. If you're unwilling, I'll ask Simon out for dinner tonight and see if he can help you. That's what I mean! What did you think I was going to say?"
