"I just went out. Why do you look like you got your soul stolen from you?"
When Elijah came back, he found Louisa sitting there, staring into space. She didn't even look at him.
Although he was away, Elijah knew everything that had happened. He was aware that Zachary had come.
Louisa looked at him and recalled her mistaken text. Then, she thought of how Elijah had suddenly become friends with her on Facebook. All her questions were answered.
So, Elijah had been aware of the fact that she was friends with Zachary on Facebook. That was why he'd been making so many backhanded comments and shooting insults at Zachary.
Louisa had suspected that their souring relationship had something to do with Letitia or Danica. She hadn't expected that she herself was the cause of it.
However, Louisa couldn't point it out, as it would be really awkward when the three of them next meet.
"When are we leaving?" Louisa didn't respond to his question.
Elijah was wearing a black silk shirt that day and had left the top buttons open. He looked even more dashing than he usually did. With his eyes narrowed, he said, "I thought you didn't want to leave."
Ignoring the question in his eyes, Louisa shot back, "Don't you decide whether or not we leave?"
"If you don't want to leave… It's an option as well." Elijah had sunk into the couch, manspreading.
Before she knew Zachary was Twelve, what Elijah meant would've been lost on Louisa. However, she knew what was going on now. Elijah had misunderstood what was going on between her and Zachary.
Now that she recalled the weird things Zachary had said, they were all discrete tests. Louisa felt exhausted on his behalf. Thankfully, she wasn't the love of his life and was just his legally married wife. If not, with how petty he was…
"Let's go. I miss my grandma," said Louisa, stopping his rampant thoughts. There was no better excuse.
