At Silver Club, Alexander opened the door to find Elijah reclining on the couch inside. He toyed with a cigarette between his fingers, looking bored and fatigued.
"You've come back only after a few days. Are you cutting corners for your honeymoon?" mocked Alexander while pouring a glass of alcohol.
Elijah's tired eyes fell on Alexander, who looked back at him and joked, "Why are you looking at me like that? Do you like my shirt? I can take it off…"
Before Alexander could finish, Elijah cut him off. "Where's your cousin?"
Alexander laughed and asked, "I've got many cousins. Which one are you asking about?"
Elijah threw his cigarette into Alexander's glass, and a drop of alcohol even flew into Alexander's eyes.
He scrambled to get some tissue. As he wiped at his face, he scolded, "Are you a mule? If not, why are you kicking up a fuss the second you hear something you don't want to?"
"You know what I'm talking about, so why are you talking nonsense?"
Alexander could sense the atmosphere the second he walked in. That was why he made the jokes. However, it looked like it wasn't going down well. "I heard from my aunt that she went to a nunnery."
Elijah huffed. Alexander poured another glass for Elijah and pushed it toward him. "You don't believe it, either, do you? My aunt is the only one who believes her. You don't know…"
"Make her come back," Elijah interjected.
Alexander didn't retract his hand after pushing the glass over. He held on to the wineglass while looking at Elijah, asking, "Why?"
His cousin, Chloe Seymour, was Elijah's sister-in-law, Zachary's wife. They were the blueprint of a marriage for alliance. They had merely gotten their certificates and posted an announcement, without even holding a wedding.
Over the years, the two had no interaction whatsoever, only showing up during holidays to keep up appearances. Now, out of nowhere, Elijah wanted to summon her back, so Alexander was extremely curious.
