It was infuriating.
Noelle said indifferently, "You hate me so much, but you were made to apologize and promise to treat me with respect. It must be hard for you."
Roxy's face darkened, and she gritted her teeth. However, she held back and kept her head down, acting as though she were in the wrong.
"I'm a generous person. Since you've apologized, I'll let it go. But let me make one thing clear. If you fail to show me the proper respect next time we meet and keep glaring at me like that, don't expect me to go easy on you."
"M— Laurence, isn't there a rule in the family that says everyone must greet the family head and his wife politely? Anyone who breaks that rule will be punished."
Noelle almost called him "Mr. Laurence" out of habit but caught herself just in time.
The elders had all been telling her to change the way she addressed him. Laurence had said the same, telling her to call him by his name from now on.
Laurence hummed in agreement.
Noelle looked at Roxy. "Did you hear me?"
Roxy clenched her fists, struggling to control her anger. She kept her head lowered and said respectfully, "Yes, Ms. Noelle. I'll abide by the family rules from now on."
Inwardly, she cursed, 'She isn't even married to Laurence yet, but she's already putting on airs. How dare she talk to me about family rules? Even saying she'll punish me if I disrespect her again.'
Laurence and Noelle exchanged a glance. Having made her point, Noelle decided not to push things further.
