Eventually, people learned to watch their mouths around me.

That’s when my fiancé brought along his stepsister Jade.

She shot me this smug smile. “Hey, future Mrs. Chase. Your man’s actually kinda wild behind closed doors.”

“Last night in his room? He went SO HARD on me I lost my voice~ Hahaha!”

The whole room of his asshole friends burst out laughing.

Only my eyes narrowed.

Next second, I slammed Holden Chase face–down on the coffee table and pressed my pepper spray right against his eyeball.

“Don’t move! I already called the cops!”

“You just publicly admitted to unlawful restraint and forced sexual contact! That’s ten years minimum!”

“Who called us?” the lead officer asked.

“I did.” I pulled out my ID.

“Suspect: Holden Chase, male, twenty–three. Just admitted in front of everyone that he forced himself on Jade Yates last night, causing damage to her vocal cords. Twenty–four witnesses can confirm.”

Jade sat frozen on the couch with her wine glass in hand, her mouth forming a perfect O.

Holden thrashed like crazy.

“What the fuck! Touch me again and see what happens!”

“Sutton Law, are you insane?!”

“It was a JOKE! A fucking JOKE!”

I pressed my knee harder into his back until he howled.

“Officer, suspect’s unstable and showing violent behavior. I’m requesting handcuffs.”

The cops exchanged looks.

Leo, one of his friend, firstly snapped out of it and lunged at me.

“Sutton, are you out of your mind? Jade was joking!”

“Everyone knows Holden and Jade are close. What’s wrong with a little dirty talk?”

I sidestepped his grab and pointed at his face.

“Wanna join him? That’s obstruction of justice. Up to three years.”

Leo pulled his hand back.

Jade came to and threw herself at the officers, sobbing.

“Officers, please! This is all a misunderstanding! My friend and I were just messing around.”

“My voice is hoarse because… because I was singing! Not from anything else!”

I played the recording on my phone, completely emotionless.

Jade’s voice filled the room.

“Your man’s actually kinda wild behind closed doors. Last night in his room? He went so hard on me I lost my voice.”

I hit pause.

“According to criminal law and legal precedent, the term ‘went hard on me‘ in this context refers to forced sexual acts.”

“You stated when, where, and what happened. That’s textbook case testimony.”

I looked at the officers.

“I’m requesting Jade Yates be taken for a medical exam and injury assessment immediately to collect physical evidence.”

Jade’s face went white.

Holden roared, “Check for what?! I didn’t touch her! We were just gaming all night!”

I smiled coldly. “Just now you said it was dirty talk. Now you’re saying gaming. Story keeps changing–major red flag.”

“Officer, something’s off here. Please take them both in for questioning.”

Eventually, Holden got cuffed.

As he passed me, he glared with pure hatred.

“Sutton Law, you’re fucking dead. This engagement party? It’s over.”

“You better get on your knees and lick my damn shoes clean if you ever want this wedding to happen!”

I straightened my collar. My voice even.

“According to public safety laws, threatening others means five days in lockup.”

Jade sobbed hysterically as a female officer helped her into another vehicle.

Before leaving, she turned back and stared at me with eyes full of poison.

The people left in the room exchanged nervous glances, nobody daring to speak.

I grabbed my bag and scanned the crowd.

“Group sexual activity is also illegal.”

“Everyone, watch yourselves.”

With that, I turned and left.

Behind me, I heard Leo smashing his glass.
