Sham Marriage Quit, Real Heiress Strikes Back
Chapter 162 A Different Approach
Hannah hadn’t caught what Sophia was about to say, but she nodded anyway. “That’s true.”
Elena exhaled softly. “Let’s head back first. We’ll figure out what to do next.”

Inside the car, Camille took a bottle of water from her assistant and handed it to Monica and her assistants.
She was just about to bring up the interview.
But Monica had already leaned back, eyes closed, clearly resting.
Camille hesitated for a second, then quietly dropped the idea.
After they arrived at the hotel, Monica went straight to her room to rest. Only then did Camille pull one of her assistant, Rachel aside.
“Rachel,” Camille said in a lowered voice, “what’s Monica’s stance on the interview?”
Rachel looked a little uncomfortable. “I already mentioned it to her, that your company wants to book an exclusive. But she hasn’t said anything yet… and I didn’t want to push.”
Rachel was Monica’s personal assistant.
Camille had met her at an event overseas before, and it was through that connection that she managed to arrange today’s airport pickup.
She hadn’t expected Monica to be this hard to persuade.
Even with Rachel speaking on her behalf, Monica still hadn’t agreed.
“We’ve known each other for a while now,” Camille said, slipping a small jewelry box into Rachel’s hand. “Help me out a little. Think of it as a thank–you gift.”
Rachel opened it slightly, and her expression immediately brightened. “Alright. I’ll talk to her again.”
Camille forced a smile, but inside, she felt a sting.
That bracelet cost me close to two hundred thousand…
If it weren’t for getting ahead of Elena, she wouldn’t have gone this far.
But when she thought about Elena standing there awkwardly at the airport, her mood improved ag
It was worth it.
That night, when Alexander returned, Elena was still sitting at her desk, glasses on, completely focused on
her screen.
She didn’t even notice him walk in.
“What are you looking at?” Alexander said.

Elena finally snapped out of it and looked up. “Monica’s background and work history.”
Her voice carried a trace of frustration.
“There’s information online, but it’s all official. Nothing useful,” she said, leaning back slightly. “If everything about a public figure could be found online, there’d be no point in doing an exclusive.”
She sighed. “I wanted to approach her through her personal interests or life experiences, see if there’s anything that might catch her attention. But after going through everything, I’ve got nothing.”
It’s like she just appeared out of nowhere. No entry point at all.
“Official records only say she went abroad in her early twenties,” Elena continued. “Everything before that is blank. Even her early career before Talent Group is basically nonexistent. The only detailed information is after she became successful.”
She gave a small shrug. “Trying to figure out what she’s interested in feels almost impossible.”
Alexander walked over, lightly tapping her shoulder.
“Get up.”
Elena didn’t question it. She stood.
Alexander sat down in her chair, then naturally pulled her onto his lap.
Elena froze for a brief second.
She was wearing soft cotton lounge pants, while he was still in a fitted suit. Even through the fabric, she could clearly feel his warmth.
Her cheeks flushed instantly.
Why does this feel so… intense all of a sudden?
Alexander didn’t seem to notice anything unusual. With one arm loosely around her, he logged into WhatsApp on the computer.
After scanning and logging in, the chat interface appeared.
Elena’s eyes immediately landed on the top conversation.
Her profile picture. A bright, cheerful Pikachu.
Her chat was pinned right at the top, impossible to miss, and at some point the contact name had been changed to “babe.”
Below it, one word stood out. “Babe.”
Such a simple word, nothing flashy, nothing complicated, and yet it landed with unexpected weight.
It was completely accurate.

There was nothing about it that wasn’t true.
Why is my heart racing like this?
She quickly looked away, suddenly unsure where to place her hands.
Alexander’s gaze brushed past her flushed profile, a faint smile appearing at the corner of his lips. His fingers continued moving across the keyboard, quickly pulling up a contact.
Alexander typed, “Send me Monica’s info.”
The reply came almost instantly.
Dylan replied, “Do I owe you something?”
The tone was sharp. Alexander didn’t hesitate.
He typed, “Still want the investment?”
There was a brief
pause.
Then, Dylan replied, “…You win. Give me thirty minutes.”
Elena blinked, still processing. “Who is he?”
“A partner at Talent Group. He works with Monica,” Alexander said casually. After a beat, he added, “One of my people.”
Elena stared at him.
Did he just say that like it’s completely normal?
“Oh… okay,” she said slowly. “That’s actually pretty impressive.”
Alexander nodded. “It’s nothing.”
Elena didn’t know how to respond to that.
Fine. As long as it solved her problem. A few minutes later, a new message popped up.
Dylan sent a message, “Check email.”
your
Alexander didn’t reply. He simply opened his inbox. Sure enough, there was a new unread message waiting.
