Sham Marriage Quit Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 31

“Miss Sterling, Mr. Kingsley wants to know if you’re free tomorrow to try on wedding dresses with him?”

Try on dresses? Already?

“Yeah, that works.”

Elena kept her tone calm as she answered Ryan.

“Then I’ll come pick you up tomorrow.”

“No need, just send me the address, I’ll head over myself.”

A chill crept up her back as she discussed wedding plans with Ryan right in front of Nathan, it felt oddly thrilling.

Ryan didn’t say much more and hung up.

He looked at the man behind the desk. “Miss Sterling agreed, but Nathan was probably with her, she didn’t say much.”

Their people had reported that Elena went to the Hawthorne estate with Nathan earlier and hadn’t left since.

Which meant she would most likely be staying there overnight with Nathan.

Alexander had asked him to call her at this exact time, and Ryan couldn’t shake the feeling that it was intentional.

Alexander’s sharp features were covered in a cold, unreadable expression. “Got it.”

Elena had just put her phone down. Nathan was already leaning close. “Who was that?”

What’s he pretending for? He can clearly see the screen.

“Ryan. It’s about Alexander’s interview, he needed to go over a few details, we’re meeting tomorrow. I’m so tired.”

Elena yawned and slipped into bed, playing it off naturally.

“I’m going to sleep. You should go shower.”

Nothing about her explanation raised suspicion. Ryan was Alexander’s assistant, so coordinating interview details with her made perfect sense.

“Alright.”

Nathan grabbed his clothes and headed to the bathroom.

The moment the door closed, Elena quickly pulled up a recording on her phone and hit play. Nathan’s voice came through.

“Tomorrow I’ll have her move out…”

A smile curved on Elena’s lips as she organized the file and sent it to Camille, adding a message.

“Nathan said you should move out tomorrow, better pack everything up cleanly.”

After sending it, she tossed her phone aside and waited for Nathan to come out.

Nathan wasn’t out yet. But the phone on his jacket kept vibrating nonstop.

Camille really had no patience. Elena had only sent a single message, and she was already blowing up Nathan’s phone.

She waited in the bedroom with her phone. Almost an hour later, she finally heard a car pull up outside.

She ran to the door in excitement. Sure enough, Nathan stepped out of the car.

“Nathan!”

Camille shouted happily, ignoring the presence of the house staff as she ran over and threw herself into his arms.

Victoria and Victor were also at the manor today. With only staff around, everyone already understood the situation, but Nathan still felt a bit uncomfortable.

He gently pulled Camille away and headed upstairs first. Camille followed him into the guest room.

“What’s so urgent that you had to call me back right now?”

Nathan frowned and tossed his suit jacket aside.

Camille didn’t dare mention the recording Elena sent. Instead, she spoke softly, “My parents weren’t home today, and you weren’t here either, you stayed at the manor with Elena… I felt awful being here alone…

She blinked hard, forcing a tear to fall, her eyes brimming with hurt.

“Grandfather is at the manor, of course I have to stay there with her. What would he think otherwise?”

Nathan looked at her fragile expression, but for some reason, Elena’s faint smile flashed through his mind.

Compared to Camille, Elena rarely acted pitiful like this.

Before Camille moved into the Hawthorne estate, Elena had always been poised and graceful in public, and only showed her playful, softer side in private. Camille, on the other hand, always appeared delicate and vulnerable in front of him.
