Sham Marriage Quit Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 95

"Why are you crying?"

Alexander's voice came from close beside her.

Elena snapped out of it, only then realizing her face was wet with tears.

"I'm fine. I'm just... happy."

She stretched slightly, lifting her chin with a faint, self-aware smile. "Before this, I thought I was jumping from one bad marriage into another. Now it doesn't seem that terrible after all."

Her figure was slim and graceful.

The off-shoulder neckline traced her collarbones cleanly, subtle but undeniably striking.

Alexander's gaze settled on her, something unreadable passing through his eyes, the air around him tightening just slightly.

A moment passed.

"There's more," he said.

Elena blinked, confused, and followed him inside.

Besides the dozen household staff, two men in black suits with close-cropped hair stood waiting.

"Mr. Kingsley, Mrs. Kingsley," they greeted respectfully.

One of them stepped forward and handed over a thick stack of documents, more than twenty in total.

"These are the assets left by Malcolm and Vivian. According to their will, everything is to be transferred under your name."

Elena flipped through them briefly.

It matched what she had been told before. But there were also about ten additional documents.

"What about these?" she asked.

The man on the right smiled politely. "These are from your husband, part of the marriage arrangement. They include this residence, three additional properties, vehicles, and... fifty percent of Velmora Media."

Elena paused.

"Wait, fifty percent?"

She cut him off and turned toward Alexander, who was already seated on the sofa. "Why are you giving me that?"

If she accepted it, she would become the largest shareholder of Velmora Media.

This was not just generous. It was overwhelming.

"You understand the media industry," Alexander said calmly. "You're better suited to manage it than I am."

He watched her reaction, a faint hint of amusement touching his expression. "You can refuse, but I don't have the bandwidth to deal with it right now."

Elena immediately caught the meaning behind his words. Take it or leave it, either way, he was not going to manage it.

"I'm not refusing."

She answered without hesitation.

Money, influence, and something she was actually good at, there was no reason to turn that down.

She picked up the pen and signed her name quickly.

Whatever his reasons were, respect for her adoptive parents or something else, she was genuinely grateful.

She turned back to him, her tone sincere. "Thank you. If there's anything you need from me going forward, I'll do my best."

Alexander's expression paused slightly.

"Anything?" he repeated.

"Yeah," Elena said. "You chose to marry me, so I'm guessing there's something you need. I'll cooperate however I can. We'll make this work, right?"

Alexander did not answer.

He looked at her for two seconds, then turned and walked out. Elena stood there.

Did I say something wrong? Is it the word cooperate?

But if not that, she truly could not figure out why he had agreed to this marriage so readily.

She changed out of the dress, took a shower, and lay down in bed.

When she turned her phone back on, notifications flooded the screen all at once, stacking over each other until she could barely see the wallpaper beneath them.

There were dozens of missed calls, most of them from Nathan, along with calls from Victor and Victoria.

Everyone connected to her and Nathan had tried to reach her, but her phone had been off the whole time.

There were also messages.

No need to read them. It was obvious Nathan was trying to explain things about Camille.
