"Did your asthma act up again?"

Quinn's expression turned frigid, her tone entirely devoid of patience. "Dante, it's bright and early. Can't you wish something good for me for once?"

Relieved that it wasn't her, he let out a breath, but another thought quickly struck him.

"Is it Leo then? Did he catch a cold?"

Quinn glanced out the window, half-expecting to see the sun rising in the west today.

He actually cared about Leo.

Who was the one who always said that it was normal for kids to get fevers and that a few pills would fix it?

Mimicking his old tone, she replied, "It's just a little fever. No big deal."

Dante opened his mouth to say something else, but Vivienne walked over, stepping intimately to his side.

"Quinn, I came to visit Yasmine. Her severe cold still hasn't cleared up."

"Poor Yasmine. She got so sick that she couldn't even stand up the next morning, so she had to cancel her engagement party."

Her words were a thinly veiled accusation, implying that Quinn was responsible for them falling into the water.

Quinn replied coldly, "Karma never misses."

Yasmine had started the fight, and now she was reaping what she sowed.

Was Dante going to see Yasmine with her?

Quinn found it laughable.

It seemed Leon's alliance with Yasmine had indeed shifted Dante's attitude toward her stepsister.

Remembering his previous demand that she get along with Yasmine, Quinn felt a surge of anger.

"Enjoy your visit then. I'm leaving."

Quinn shot Dante an indifferent look and turned away again.

"I'll go see Leo with you."

Dante grabbed her arm and turned back to Vivienne. "You go ahead. I need to see my son."

Vivienne's eyes narrowed slightly. She had assumed that since they were divorced, there would be no more ties between them.

He wanted to snap at her, but seeing the exhaustion etched onto Quinn's face, he stopped in his tracks.

Staring at her with those bottomless, dark eyes, he gave her a long look.

"If you need me, call me anytime."

Quinn pursed her lips. In the past, there had been far too many times she desperately needed him, and he had never shown up.

So now, she simply didn't need him anymore.

As Quinn disappeared down the hallway, Vivienne looked up at him.

"Dante, are you coming with me to see Yasmine?"

Dante pulled his gaze away from the empty corridor. "No, I'm going to see my grandfather."

With that, he turned and stepped into the elevator without hesitation.

Watching the doors close in front of her, Vivienne clenched her fists in fury.

Quinn, you really are a lingering ghost!
