"I know," Silas agreed. "Mr. Hayes tried to talk her out of it, but you know how she is. Once she makes up her mind, it's set in stone."

Quinn stared blindly out the window at the blurred city streets, falling completely silent.

Truthfully, she had zero idea how she was going to face Dante's grandmother.

She was terrified that the sharp-eyed matriarch would instantly spot the cracks in their shattered marriage.

Her anxiety skyrocketed for the remainder of the drive until the sedan finally glided to a halt in front of the ultra-luxurious hotel.

A massive red carpet stretched from the entrance, flanked by swarms of rabid paparazzi and corporate elites. The blinding, relentless explosions of camera flashes forced her to squint against the glare.

Silas stepped out first, circling to her side to pull the door open and shield the roofline with his hand.

"Whenever you're ready, Mrs. Hayes."

Gathering the heavy skirts of her gown, Quinn elegantly stepped out of the vehicle.

With her breathtakingly radiant complexion, stunning curves hugged by the diamond-encrusted couture gown, and flawlessly elegant features, she was an absolute vision.

The second her heel hit the pavement, every single eye in the vicinity was violently magnetized to her.

"Mr. Hayes is waiting for you in the lobby. The matriarch's car is ten minutes out," Silas murmured as he escorted her through the chaos.

Even though Quinn rarely made public appearances outside of major galas, plenty of industry heavyweights and executives instantly recognized her, surging forward to offer obsequious greetings.

She pasted on a flawless, gracious smile, nodding politely as she waded through the sharks.

The moment she stepped into the grand ballroom, a towering figure immediately closed the distance between them. It was Dante.

He was strapped into a lethal, custom-tailored black suit, the shadow of exhaustion from the grueling IPO prep visible in the sharp lines of his face.

Yet the second his eyes locked onto hers, that fatigue seemed to vanish entirely.

A flicker of dangerous, obsessive heat flared in his gaze before he reached out and locked his fingers tightly around hers.

"You made it," he murmured, his voice dark and velvety. "You look absolutely incredible in that dress."

His sickeningly perfect charade was so flawless it almost made Quinn hallucinate that their vicious screaming match the day before had never happened.
