"You've crossed the line."
Raymond's voice was deadly cold. "You repeatedly harass her with total disregard for how she feels."
"You are the one who needs to leave."
Dante sneered. "I highly suggest you bury whatever pathetic feelings you're harboring for her. She is still a married woman."
Tipping his chin with overwhelming superiority, his expression turned arrogantly cold. "Besides, she could never love another man."
Staring at Dante, Quinn seriously considered stomping his other foot for good measure.
The man had too much time on his hands. Raymond didn't even like women, yet here Dante was, engaging in a hilariously one-sided alpha male showdown.
Raymond's brows knitted tightly before his eyes flashed with faint mockery. "So hostile toward a simple bodyguard. Mr. Hayes, are you really that insecure?"
Dante's face froze in absolute outrage. He couldn't figure out why this mere bodyguard possessed an oppressive aura that somehow constantly shattered his elite superiority.
Barking back furiously, he snapped, "My confidence is none of your damn business. Quinn and I are legally bound. It is perfectly natural for me to guard her against predators hovering around her."
At the mention of the words "legally bound," Raymond's expression shifted into something incredibly profound.
"Very well, Mr. Hayes. I take back what I just said. You are exceptionally confident."
Confident enough to have absolutely no idea that his wife had already divorced him and flash-married another man.
Dante couldn't shake the feeling that Raymond's words were laced with deep, hidden sarcasm.
But he couldn't fathom how a common, lowly bodyguard had the right to mock him.
Narrowing his dark eyes, he locked into a heavy standoff with Raymond.
As their gazes collided, a violent, explosive tension flooded the cool night air.
Feeling the terrifying shift in the atmosphere, Quinn addressed Dante in an icy tone. "This argument is completely pointless. Leave, Dante."
After speaking, she gently took the picture book from Leo's small hands. "Come on. Let's go read."
The little boy nodded, taking two tiny steps before turning back around.
Quinn turned to look at Raymond.
The man was usually completely devoid of expression. Honestly, having a toddler demand a bedtime story from him felt like cruel and unusual punishment.
It was nearly impossible to picture this towering, lethal man reading a picture book.
Quinn quickly comforted her son. "Be a good boy, Leo. Ray's job is just to protect you. I'll read the book to you."
As she spoke, she snuck another glance at the man.
Was it just her imagination? The air around him felt considerably colder than usual. He seemed visibly annoyed.
What was more, when he had looked at Leo just moments ago, his face had been somewhat soft. It was only when their eyes met that his expression had turned completely icy.
Quinn wondered if he was angry because she hadn't given him a single day off since he started working. Maybe he was bitter about not having time to go on a date with his "sugar daddy"?
Struck by the awkward realization, she flashed an apologetic smile. "Raymond... how about I give you tomorrow off?"
