"What are you looking at? Keep staring and I'll gouge your eyes out!"
Tara flashed two fingers in a stabbing motion at Vivienne, making the other woman pale in terror and nearly trip in her heels.
Watching Vivienne stumble away in a panic made Quinn and Tara burst into laughter.
Remembering Dante's words, Tara sobered up. "Are you really going back to the Yates estate? That entire family is a nightmare, especially Yasmine. She's always hated your guts."
Quinn said flatly, "I can't hide forever. It's about time I start settling these old scores anyway."
"And then there's Vivienne. She loves using other people's turf to stir up drama and play the victim."
"Back then, she used her friendship with Yasmine to bully you. Now that they're practically family, who knows what kind of garbage they're plotting."
Quinn offered a warm smile of gratitude. "I know. I'll keep my guard up."
"I just don't get what Leon is thinking. With all the incredible women out there, why is he marrying Yasmine?"
Tara sighed.
Vivienne had two brothers. The middle brother, Lucas, was already married with a four-year-old daughter. The eldest, Leon, had been solely focused on the family business until his recent decision to marry into the Yates family.
Unlike Vivienne, Tara actually respected Leon quite a bit.
Near the exit, Vivienne trailed after Dante, pouring out her grievances.
"Dante, you saw how hostile they were."
"Yasmine and I are like sisters, and she's about to marry my brother. I'm just genuinely excited to go to the party and see if I can help out."
"But Quinn always assumes the worst of me."
Staring straight ahead, Dante replied coldly, "Quinn isn't as easily pushed around as she used to be. You'd better keep your head down and stay out of trouble."
Vivienne stared at him in pure shock.
Dante pulled out his phone and called his assistant. "Where is Felix Hawthorne?"
"Mr. Hawthorne just called back," Silas reported. "He said he had a family emergency with his wife and had to leave early. He asked to reschedule the dinner."
Dante frowned. Why had Felix left in such a rush?
Meanwhile, inside the penthouse suite of The Rosewood Heights.
Felix Hawthorne sat across from Raymond, a look of profound shock on his face.
The color instantly drained from Felix's face. "I'll launch a covert investigation into this immediately. If it's true, we need to take defensive measures."
Raymond's dark eyes narrowed. "Make sure it stays strictly off the books. Do not alert him."
"Understood!"
—
Later that day, Tara drove Quinn away from the hotel. Having nothing else to do, Quinn leaned against the window, watching the city blur past.
Suddenly, her breath hitched.
A black Cullinan made a U-turn just ahead and vanished into the underground parking garage of The Rosewood Heights.
Her eyes widened.
That night outside Lunas Crest, hiding behind the camphor tree, she had memorized the license plate.
The last two digits were 8 and 9—her birthday. She was absolutely certain.
So... Raymond and his billionaire backer were heading into the city's most luxurious hotel right now?!How luxurious!
