Throughout the banquet, Dante watched Quinn from afar, eyeing Raymond guarding her closely.

A heavy frustration sat in his chest.

For the first time, he felt a very real, nameless pang of regret and panic...

He knew she deeply resented him for what happened today.

But how could he simply ignore the person who had risked her life to save him all those years ago when she was drowning today?

Her birthday was coming up in a week. He had to speed up the purchase of that estate at Sapphire Lake so he could gift it to her.

Dante wasn't bothering Quinn, but that didn't mean others were behaving themselves.

While changing her clothes, Yasmine had gotten a thorough scolding from Cynthia.

"Why did you have to go provoke that wretched girl? Ever since she married Dante and got the Hayes family backing her, we haven't been able to do anything to her."

"Stirring up trouble at a time like this only makes you look like a joke and pisses your father off."

Returning to the banquet hall.

Remembering her embarrassing plunge into the pool in front of everyone and the ensuing lecture from her mother, Yasmine gritted her teeth in pure hatred the second she saw Quinn.

Making her look bad in front of strangers was one thing. But in front of her fiancé, Leon, she had always maintained the image of a gentle, understanding woman.

Yet, on the eve of her engagement, Quinn had ripped her gown and sent her tumbling into the pool. Leon had seen her looking like an absolute wreck.

She couldn't swallow this insult. Seeing Raymond standing beside Quinn, a cold sneer tugged at her lips.

But she had learned her lesson this time. Instead of confronting Quinn directly,

She turned to Mr. Yates beside her and said with feigned surprise, "Dad, who is that man standing with my sister?"

Mr. Yates had just finished escorting Yasmine around to greet the guests. Hearing her remark, he couldn't help but look ahead.

He saw a man dressed in black standing next to Quinn. Wearing sunglasses, his thin lips were pressed tight, his entire demeanor radiating an intimidating, icy aura.

"My sister is becoming more and more outrageous. Pushing me into the pool earlier was one thing—at the end of the day, that was just a petty squabble between sisters."

"If my dear sister hadn't picked a fight earlier, he wouldn't have had to save me from drowning."

"Isn't that right, Yasmine?"

Besides, her bodyguard had zero interest in women. She had absolutely no need to worry about boundaries.

"Quinn, you could easily just hire a female bodyguard. You're a daughter of the Yates family and Mrs. Hayes. You have to be mindful of appearances."

"I pay his salary. What do you care if he's a man or a woman?" Quinn rolled her eyes at her.

"You're all talk. Aren't your personal trainer and your chauffeur both men?"

Choking on her words, Yasmine's face turned red. "I didn't parade them around a banquet like you did!"

"Of course you didn't," Quinn scoffed. "Your personal trainer can't help you work out at a party, and your chauffeur can't drive your car around the venue."

"A bodyguard is different. If he's not by my side protecting me, what's the point of having him?"
