Chapter 11
Lawrence stared intently at the message he had just edited, a trace of surprise flickering in his
eyes.
Back then, he had agreed to marry Maryann purely for Candice and the Frye family’s inheritance.
Now that Candice had returned and Maryann had left, everything was back on track-wasn’t this exactly the outcome he had wanted from the start?

“What’s wrong, Larry? You don’t look well,” Candice asked softly, holding onto his arm.
“It’s nothing.” Lawrence glanced at her body, which was almost pressed against his arm, neckline pulled a bit low, revealing a hint of cleavage.

This deliberate display made his brows furrow ever so slightly.
Maryann used to tease him on purpose like this too.
When he was reading documents in the study, Maryann loved to sit by his desk, wearing black high heels with red soles, resting her foot on his thigh like a sly wildcat: “Lawrence, stop looking at those files and look at me. I don’t believe your eyes are empty…”
When he was sitting in the back seat of the Rolls-Royce, she would lower the partition, straddle him, hook his chin with her finger, blink her eyes, and whisper in his ear, her breath warm and fragrant: “Lawrence, let’s try something different…”
