Chapter 162
Next, Dominic drove Isabella to Riverside Residence, then went upstairs to see Lilith.
Katherine noticed her sister’s expression and could already guess the outcome. She let out a quiet sigh and chose not to ask.
“Lily, are you sleeping here with Auntie tonight, or going home?”
Hearing Dominic’s voice, the girl kept watching television and refused without even turning her head. “Daddy, I’m sleeping with Auntie tonight!”
Dominic felt helpless. He nodded at Katherine and turned to leave.
Just as he stepped out the door, someone grabbed his arm. It was Isabella.
“Let go,” he said.
“I won’t let go… Honey, stay with me for a bit, or I’ll go back with you…” Isabella’s voice broke, choked with sobs.
“That’s enough!” Dominic snapped. “Isabella, don’t push your luck.”
As he spoke, he tried to shake her off.
Isabella clung to him with all her strength. Her knuckles turned white, yet she refused to release him. Tears blurred her eyes, her expression filled with sorrow and stubborn resolve.
The veins on Dominic’s forehead twitched. “How many times do I have to say this? We’re already divorced. You and I are no longer husband and wife. Do you understand?”
“I don’t care. I don’t understand!” Isabella cried hysterically. “You’re my husband for life! I can’t live without you. Don’t treat me like this, okay? Without you, I’ll die…”
Seeing her like this, a complicated look flickered through Dominic’s eyes. His tone softened slightly. “No one can’t live without someone else. Everything is settled, and we have to move forward. Besides, I’m going home now. Why are you holding onto me?
“I’m scared,” Isabella said, her voice trembling. “That woman is living at your place. I’m really scared. I already guessed it during the court session today. She was the one who helped you. Don’t fall in love with someone else, okay?”
Dominic paused for a moment before speaking. “I’ll say it again. Before Lily becomes an adult, I won’t consider remarrying. Since you know Jessica helped me, you should also understand that letting her live there was just a condition of that help.”
“Then can you promise me you won’t have any other relationship with her?” Isabella pressed, refusing to let go.
Dominic’s face turned cold. “Explaining this much is already more than enough goodwill. To put it another way, even if I had a relationship with her, or even slept with 100 women, what does that have to do with you?”
“I…” With every word he spoke, Isabella’s heart shook. She cried as she pleaded, “Honey, I’m just scared. I’m scared you won’t want me anymore…”
“At this point, you’re still saying these things,” Dominic said impatiently. “Aren’t you tired? Let go. I’m going home.”
Without waiting for her response, he forcefully pulled his arm free.
Isabella stood frozen, staring at her husband’s resolute retreating figure. It felt as if a knife were carving into her heart.
In her now empty hand, the lingering warmth of his arm remained. She stood there in a daze for a long time before her emotions finally gave way. She squatted down and began to sob.
The door opened, and Katherine stepped out.
