When Jessica heard that, she laughed playfully. “Relax, Dominic. My family doesn’t control me at all!”
“That’s not the issue,” he said. “It’s not about whether they control you.”
She did not let him finish. She cut him off mid–sentence, her tone suddenly grave. “If you want to kick me out, you’ll have to push me off the building and kill me. Oh, wait. This is only the third floor.”
She paused, then added seriously, “Later, let’s go up to the rooftop, and you can push me down.”
Dominic froze. He met her blazing stare, stayed silent for a few seconds, then said flatly, “Eat.”
“Hehe!”
“No hehe.”
After the meal, Jessica said, “Hey, Dominic, you should rest. I’ll wash the dishes.”
She did not wait for his response. She pushed him straight onto the living room sofa.
He had not even scrolled through two reels when clattering sounds came from the kitchen, followed by the sharp crack of something breaking
Dominic stood and walked over.
Jessica was standing in the doorway, looking dejected. “Dominic, I broke a plate.”
“It’s fine. Broken plates mean good luck. Did you hurt yourself?” He spoke as he stepped into the kitchen and bent down to gather the shards.
“No.” When she saw that he was not angry, Jessica brightened at once. Her eyes sparkled. “Dominic, you’re so nice. I messed up, and you didn’t scold me. You even checked on me!”
Dominic was left speechless. “Isn’t that normal human behavior? Who gets angry over a few plates?”
“Some people do…” Jessica said without thinking. A flicker of discomfort crossed her face.
Dominic did not notice. “Alright. Go rest. I’ll take care of this.”
“Mm–hmm.”
It did not take long for Dominic to finish cleaning up. When he returned to the living room, he suddenly saw Jessica lifting his glass to drink water.
Startled, he hurried over. “Hey, that’s my glass.”
“Hehe, I just want to use your glass!” Jessica laughed and deliberately pressed her lips against the rim once.
Dominic stared at her. “Are you serious? That’s disgusting.”
“Not disgusting. This is the glass you used.” Her cheeks flushed as she lowered the glass and said shyly, “Does this count as an indirect kiss?”
“Kiss my ass!” Dominic snapped, the corner of his mouth twitching.
This little pervert always found new tricks. There was no guarding against her.
After that, Jessica watched TV while Dominic played on his phone. The living room fell quiet.
Before they realized it, it was already past 10:00 p.m.

Chapter 18?
The doorbell rang
Dominic went to open the door. The instant it swung open, a fist the size of a sandbag shot straight toward his face.
“Damn!” Dominic dodged on reflex and shouted, “Oliver, are you crazy?”
Oliver rushed inside as he spoke, his voice cold. “Don’t you fucking dodge!”
Dominic retreated while scolding him. “Oliver, calm down.”
“Calm your ass!” Oliver showed no sign of stopping.
Dominic’s temper flared, and he finally fought back.
Jessica stood frozen. She had not expected to witness such chaos while sitting at home.
Ten minutes later, Oliver sat slumped on the sofa, bruised and swollen, gasping for breath.
Dominic fared much better, with only a bruise at the corner of his mouth. He sat nearby and asked, “Satisfied now?”
He had beaten Oliver before, and this time was no different. He had even held back.
“It’s none of your business.” Oliver snorted, stood up after calming down, and stormed out.
Jessica stared after him. “So he came all this way just to get beaten up?”
“Who knows?” Dominic said. “That guy probably has some serious issues.”
